Like this, only maybe just the hood gets the black with just the front edge staying orange.
gila-monster-black-hood-3-png.png

I love this look. The only thing I would change is instead of taking the black all the way out to the edges of the fenders, I would put the break line down the middle(ish) of the top of the fender. Make it line up with the edge of the windshield. Then your A pillar ties into the cowl and fender still.

For now, the ecu is done. It'll start the car, and the " known tune" that's on it is safe enough to go out, and drive it.
Before I can do that I gotta finish the two panels..the hood and the trunk.

Both of them have their fair share of work. The hood is gonna need the hole where the hood ornament was filled. I think I'm gonna take the rear vents off of the original hood and transfer them over to this one. I'll have to fill a couple of small dents, and finish the repair that was done on the under side where the old prop rod caused a rip in the inner structure ( re-welded already)

The trunk has rust around the seam, and I'm gonna get some sand to put in my little HF blast gun to deal with that., but after that gets remedied, I'm only gonna clean the underside(s), scuff them add a coat of primer, and paint it.

Somewhere back a million pages, there are some photo-shopped images of the hood on the car in different colors, so I can decide if I want to try all black, all orange, or some combination of the two again. It's the same way for the trunk for me.
Thinkin' maybe all black this time, with only the front edge above the grille orange, and the rear edge of the trunk the same way.

Maybe.

I like this look! Match the trunk to tie it all in. Looking at this and your latest pictures, I really like your choice in new wheels too.

This seems like a good way to get the inputs we need for traction control ect...j

but could you please translate this information into stupid american for me.... and maybe a link or two so i can buy these items

Lol. Its all US Patriot rocket science. Rocket scientists are lazy people with a conscience, so they downgrade the independent variable info in, and upgrade the calculation process. Ask Mike about the bat sh!+ crazy non English English techo babble I dribble. Poor guy needs a Pail of B@$+@rd Ale everytime he opens one of my posts....

And as well, IMHO, there aint no stupid American.

Its kinda like a MegaSquirt tutorial, or the wiring protocol decriptions on the MegaJolt EDIS systems. Everyone goes nuts about how about we change the decription. Or the English deciding to rework English. Better to just keep it the way it was and then have a
recurring sequence of "OMG,...Wow,...That's is F-ing Nuts, stupid backtards".

You should just charge a fee for giving the right translation, A91!

E.g.:- When the wonderfull Willam Edwards Demming released production engineering papers which the US industry reject en masse as disenfranchising commie mumbo jumbo, he just went to Japan and revitalized a whole industy. His language made the US react so bad to it. No wonder they wanted to stone him. Sanitising stuff is like that then creates other issues.

But notice,...he still didn't translate anything relevant to the previous conversation...

I can see how this would go for me in a one on one with the kiwi...

Me n Dean
I ask Dean a question,...he answers....:rock::rock::rock::cookie::rock::rock::cookie::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::cookie::cookie:( the cookies are pics of non-relevant to the story stuff, occasionally thrown in to add color)
I'm like......:thinking::thinking:trying to decide if he answered my actual question.
So,...I ask for clarification.....
And he responds with a " word machine gun" pointed straight at my head:uzi::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::cookie::rock::rock::cookie: Then,..a brain flamer :flame::cookie::cookie::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::rock::cookie::cookie::ninja::ninja:
And I'm like.....:shrug::shrug::shrug:...followed immediately by..:scratch:,..then,... :chinThen,...:crazy: Finally with :leaving:
And Dean turns on the bar stool, says hello to the person sitting next to him,.
Who asks him a question.......

As someone who deals regularly with engineers and programmers..... I still did not get an answer, or use able information from Deans post... lol I guess I can use whatever VR sensor i want as long as we have the appropriate VR conditioner.

Day off today,...several things that I could do to the car if it wasn't raining.

But it's raining. Now, that's not that big a deal nowadays, since the car starts and drives,...I could just back the electric blueberry out of the upper garage, and put the monster in there. That would free up the entire monster liar for body or prep work that the hood and trunk need prior to going to color..
( So.....what did we decide then,......Hot rod black?)

I recently used John Deere Blitz Black on my hood and it lays down really nice and after a few days was very hard and durable. You can also wipe it down with spray detailers etc without it looking weird or shiny. I mixed it 8-1-1 and used a 1.4 tip and 26psi at the gun.

Def black on the hood, with the front leading edge orange.

I guess I got a lot done...
My back, my knees, and feet think so.
Since it was raining, I worked under our covered deck. I removed the orange and black hood, drilled out the rear vent covers, drilled out the lift shock attaching mounts, and moved the thing to the wal in the man cave part of the basement that I'm gonna hang that thing on like a big assed piece of art.
20190409_095817_zpsdwd8fg6x.jpg

Then.......I grabbed the skanky hood, took it outside, and wire wheeled the funk off of the bottom. Cut the under brace off ( hits every freaking thing under it when it's closed) and cut the front aero catch mount holes in.
20190409_183220_zpsubvi821s.jpg

But,..that required..........collateral damage. I want the things in the same space that the stock hood bumpers are...and that area is double skinned. ( just like yours is)
You have to get to the bottom of the upper mount to add the backside reinforcement...I had to cut the structure away.
I can't weld it back either,..Id never be able to get at the back so,...I gotta figure somethin out.
20190409_183343_zpshetyfrsi.jpg

After I got the holes cut in the hood for the Aerocatch thingys, I cut the back of the hood for the vents..got out the Clecos, and temp'd them in.
20190409_183256_zpsfulvwxra.jpg

Then....I trashed the hood scoop.

Stupid piece of junk is supposed to fit some Chevrolet pickup...it don't fit the monster hood for sht. Ordinarily that's to be expected, there's always trimming that has to be done with any universal scoop.
Cept,...this wasn't universal..it's supposed to fit a piece of junk Chevrolet pickup. And,...it was supposed to be stuck on with that double sided 3m trim adhesive tape. And,..as much trimming as I had to do to get the thing to fit, it completely wiped out the ledge that you're supposed to stick the tape onto. How I'm gonna make it work will probably involve PBA, and bolts...
I'll glue them bitches to the scoop, and make it bolt on instead.

20190409_185242_zpspv1v6nnb.jpg

Getting the Aerocatch mount pins located proved to be a challenge..and as usual,..one of them needed " adjusting"..several times.,...when you look at the two of them you see one is significantly further back than the other...another hacked up alternative to the " measure twice, cut once" rule that I choose to ignore.
20190409_184625_zps6ozltxbc.jpg

That almost brings me up to date..Leaving one small tidbit..
Knowing that I have bare metal, and bodywork in front of me. I go out on Sunday, and buy a qt of some junk primer, and it's respective reducer for 33 bucks from Oreillys. ( it is primer after all ) At the same time, and as much as I hate bodywork I would absolutely go ape sht If I was to have some unsatisfactory result if something was to prematurely fail..
So,...I take the 33 dollar junk back, and go out and get this junk instead....

20190409_183441_zpscrmqyzkr.jpg

That costs 5 times more money.

Damn you Dave...Damn you and your do it right the first time eyes.

I've just ruined my second Bernstein NPN sensor, and need something that produces not more than 5 volts positive, and a square wave form for my data logger.

I'm thinking of a straight wire hookup to my VR sensor. [/img]

I thought hey, why have an external non Ford sensor when I could use the stock one. ?

Then I polled the circuit, and found out why a VR didn't make a proper square wave all the time.

Bernstein NPN sensor = Perfect square wave, all the time....

The only issue is runtime errors if you have like four of them polling to a PLC system.

Since ABS sensors are measuring speed differential, most programmers skip the digitial sh!+ and just forget about the 20 mph speeds, and use a program test Q. is really is the fu99er (wheel 1, 2, 3 or 4 ) skiddin' or not.

VR's are anoluge input, and no conditioning passes are needed to use the inputs...less code, less other work.

Digital square waves require a line of code, a test, and that might make a runtimne error happen.

The sensor is a common one ex Bernstien, but the supplier runs road roughness vehicles all over the world, and I've gotten all my sensors from him.

I like the scoop.

I really like aerocatch hood pins.
Same here. I’ve scrolled back and forth between the “with” and “without” hood scoop pics trying to picture the finished look. I’d go with the scoop! Not that it needs it, but it adds a little more “character”.

I can say that while it’s white it’s a detractor. I think that is the one thing. The other thing, especially if I go HR black, is that that much flat hood and trunk is gonna require absolutely perfect prep work. And if that scoop is black too,....it may just disappear.
Bottom line is,.what would be the point then? The trunk is what it is, but the hood can either be with or without a distraction for the eye. Regardless, I’m gonna have to be flawless with regard to how smooth and flat I get these surfaces.

I don’t think I can even say the word flawless out loud, much less do something that is “ without flaws”.

I’ve decided though...
There is one last missing part of the decal set not yet applied. The word “ spoiler” goes on the front of the hood and the back edge of the trunk.

The ones that I currently have are black, and big. I’m gonna have them remade in a smaller font, and in orange. And stick them on an all black hood.....the trunk.....idk yet..the little support struts for the ducktail make it a little busy back there...maybe I’ll look at that a little harder.
