Beers Of Stangnet

Ok, so I'll start off with this one.

I like Imperial stouts! It's not really the right weather for super heavy beers, but this showed up at the bottle shop the other day and I had to try it. It's very dark, as expected, with a smooth chocolate taste, and just a hit of coffee at the end. A little on the sweet side for me, but over all a great stout.

Next up is....

I was a little surprised by this one. The misses actually pick this one out for herself, so I just got a few sips to see how it was. I've tried several offerings from Blue Pants and have always found them to be middle of the road. I really like this one though. We drank it yesterday, so again not really the time for stouts, but I'm not complaining. Sweet, chocolaty, with a little vanilla and caramel flavor. A strong beer for a hot day, but very good.

And then...

This is another one picked up by the misses. She had to have it because it said Boll Weevil. We live in Enterprise. We have a freaking statue of a lady holding a giant boll weevil in the middle of town. Anyway. Its a brown. nothing to memorable.

Now to something different.

Peanut butter and IPA EWWWW! Not really. It was good. I like peanut butter porters and generally like IPAs. I've had some interesting IPA combinations here lately. Back to the beer. It's light on the hops so it doesn't over power the rest of the beer. You can definitely taste the peanut butter. It's a little sweet as you would expect, but just slightly. Would drink again!

And Then....

Omaha is a local brewery. I havent made it up there yet, but my better half got a chance to swing by while she was going to pick up some stuff in Columbia Ga the other day. She brought this back for me. Good solid IPA. Smooth with just enough hops to let you know it's an IPA but not too in your face about it. A good summer drinking beer!

It's a tropical wheat beer. Fun art on the can, fun beer in the can! This is a good summer beer. Light with some fruit to it. Wheat beers are usually easy drinking anyway. Check it out!

Alright, last beer post for the day.

Imperial Porter! As you can see on the can its a chocolate vanilla porter. So guess what! It has a nice chocolate flavor with hints of vanilla! It was good.

And last but certainly not least there is this bad boy.

I suck at taking pictures so I apologize for that, but not the beer! I haven't cracked this one open yet, but had to share. I picked it up a local event the other night. I won it in a raffle! It's a very limited release collaboration beer between Stone and Alesmith. I'm going to have some people over in a few weeks for a get together. The plan is to open it then. Expect a full report when I do.

Man! You've been after it!

I like imperial stouts anytime of the year myself, my stores have crap right now though.

Which will bring up my next post......

Ok, so the fridge is getting a little packed with beers I didn't personally care for. I needed to make room for the stuff I do like, and since there's only one way a beer leaves my house, I did this with four of them.

It's not too bad really, a shake of salt in it and it's relatively refreshing after having cut the grass and finally removed a bush in my yard. I'm not sure what the bush was, I called it sonofabitch.

I will definitely look for some of those stouts and imperials! :nice:

As for the last, I do like Smithwick (Smittik). The picture reminds me of the old joke, "I'll one each of those... in a bucket." :D

Dave- Sounds like it was a real sonofabush! I've dug out a few of those myself over the years. For me, it was always a requirement to dig the stump out and throw it as far as possible at the end. That sonofabush usually flew pretty far by that point, too! :fuss:

The bush is usually no big deal. The stumps are definitely the sonofabush!!

The other night I had "The Notorious P.O.G." by Stone. It was very similar, but with more tart. I liked it better. I also had "Fear Movie Lions" a New England IPA , "Enter Night" a Stone collaboration with Metallica, hoppy pilsner not my favorite, and "Wootstout" a barrel aged Russian Imperial very good but super strong! All the above beers are from Stone.

OOOOOOOOOO! I just finished-off a bottle of regular Maker's Mark, I'll have to go look for this one! :nice:

Do you add a dash of water to it? That loosens the oils and can really bring out the flavor in some whiskeys and Scotches. :)

I always add a small amount of water.

I'd like to say it's for the reason you just mentioned, but it's really because my grandpa did it that way, lol.

Straight, this kind of numbs my taste buds I think.
