Beers Of Stangnet

So, Let's be Me....

I went to the liquor store with the intention of buying some more Yuengling Pilsner to go down smooth after doing a quick cleanup on the Mustang this evening (which was promptly ruined by the typical late-afternoon thunderstorm). But after perusing the cases, this beer caught my eye...mostly because of it's name. The beer and I share a name, so I figured I'd see what I'd taste like in beer form.

It's pretty good! It's got a nice amber color to it, but has the taste of a witbier with honey and hibiscus, just as the can says. It's also fairly smooth to drink. It was $11.99 for a 4-pack of pint cans. I think I'd buy it again.

Also of note, the Oktoberfests were starting to show up. They had offerings from Sam Adams and Sierra Nevada. More to arrive soon, I'm sure.

I'm going to this tomorrow...

Pray for me

Awesome! I’ve been to a few. Some words of wisdom I was given on my first, was “if you don’t like it, dump it, cause there’s plenty more”. It definitely helps you keep pace and enjoy the festival. I’ve watched some people just drink every sample, and halfway in, they were done!! Stupid, but funny to watch at the same time. Lol.

I made it to the beerfest and lived! It was alright. This was the first one that Ozark has ever held, so hopefully they'll do it again next year and it will be better. My biggest complaint with it was just the lack of breweries. There was maybe 8 or 9. There was one booth that had a grab bag of different offerings. I've been to several festivals around the southeast. I've been to really good ones and not so good ones. I'd give it a 7 out of 10 just because it was their first.

Now I did see this while there.

I think this shot looked a little better. Gave it some class!

Random Fox! It was perfect that that car just happened to roll by at that moment.

Saturday was a good day! We had about 10 people over to the house for a house warming party and beer share. I cooked a 5 gallon pot of Gumbo, that got destroyed! and everybody had a good time. I broke out some interesting beers from the stash and everyone brought a few interesting offering to share. Here is a couple of pics of what was partaken of!

The big guy in the middle is the one that I won at the pint night a few weeks back.

I got invited to go to a Bourbon club this Thursday. Apparently they get together once a month. First time you go you have to bring something to contribute to the stash. I'm bringing a bottle of Jefferson's Ocean. I'm not a big bourbon drinker, but I like it. Should be a good networking event to be a part of though. Good times!

I haven't done that (yet...) but I have been to a couple of Scotch tastings. Highland Park has a few good ones. It's surprising how just a dash of water in a shot can really change the flavor.
