Progress Thread My centrifugal ppl, how’s this deal?

See if it works ok with the pcv installed and sealed.
I would find way to seal off the breather hole and run a hose from the filler tube to the tb with an oil separator in between, it's up to you. If it works ok with the breather and stops leaking then run with it.

Adjusted.

Also (looking back): Just straight up change the oil screen, grommet, and PCV. They are cheap. You shouldn't have to use sealant. Constant heat cycles and oil do make them harden and shrink overtime along with all the other crap that spills down the back of the intake.

So weather last few weeks hasn’t been the best, ended up having issue with the lift kit on my truck and went way past the check up on my front coil overs and had to get them rebuilt and get some new seals, nitrogen and shock oil but needles to say they were empty lol but all is good now. Took the car out for a little cruise around the neighborhood and got on it then cam back home and let it sit in the garage and idle for a bit since it was warmed up and it just kept going. Still need to give it another test and take it for a longer drive then come to a stop and see what happens but hoping fixing that pcv valve maybe was the issue. After coming back from the drive and letting it sit it didn’t do the usual whistle it would start doing before it would want to shut off so maybe now that the valve is better that’s what was causing that? In the mean time I had to do something to the car lol so I finally decided to install my cobra grille insert. I was a little scared to cut the bumper but went for it, cut the area out and just trimmed until I got the insert as flush as possible. Was gonna try and paint it myself, went to a paint supply store to see about getting some rattle cans made up. Got some prices for getting a can of EP color code and can of clear VS just getting a single stage can, then I would need adhesive promoter so cheapest way I was looking at 60 for single stage can mixed plus promoter etc. then remembered my buddy works at an auto body and frame shop and he got his guys to spray for me which was less than buying those cans. Eventually when I get the car repainted I want to get them to mold the insert with the bumper so it looks like one whole piece kinda how the old stalker bumper looked. Mocked up these 5.0 badges with magnets and I’m kinda liking them but now I can’t decide to run these or get the s550 style!

Grill looks great! Those Scott Rod panels painted like that really clean up that front part of the engine bay!! Very nice!
...... and I’d stick with the Foxbody 5.0 badges.. JMO

Back it here, got a show I am planning on attending this coming weekend so got the car out and washed it. Decided to take it for a spin down the road from the house to the lake and back which is just about a quick 10 minute ride. So I noticed the car seemed to be very poppy. I wasn’t getting to aggressive and just taking it up in 3rd-4th to maybe 5k and would let off and it would just pop pop pop pop down the road, more than normal I feel like. I have longtubes, x pipe, spin techs with pipes. I get down to the end of the road and pull off to make a u turn so threw it in neutral and the car dies! I’m just like wtf!! Bc it was getting dark, not where I want to be stuck at, and the lady whose house I was in front of was eyeballing me like I was some hoodlum. Let it sit for a minute and popped the hood bc of course oil is spitting out the breather and smoking on the header. I try and crank it up and it would crank but make this sound like it wasn’t getting gas. It did this to me the other day in the garage, I recorded and I’ll post it up. It’s almost like It not getting fuel or something. Any ways I tried a few more times with the same results and I’m getting mad. I try it again and pump the gas a little and bang it fires up and I get my self home and park it, let it idle and it does it’s thing. So what should my fuel pressure be while the car is driving and idling? I watched my gauge while driving back and it seemed low but maybe that is just normal. Gonna pull the plugs to just to make sure those aren’t bad or have one that is fouled etc since those are the ones that have been on since the top end was redone and tuned. I also know the GlowShift gauges aren’t the best either. Last two picks are back in garage at idle

The two videos where it seems like it’s not getting fuel is what it did again last night when I shifted into neutral and it shut off on it own then when I kept trying to restart it was doing this same thing until it just fired up after the 4th try and letting it sit for a moment.

It was swapped when I did all the top end about a year ago.
Swapped? So this was replaced with a new one?

Reason I am asking is I went through this last year and my brand new fuel filter less than a year old was clogged. Mine was due to the car sitting for 5 years untouched and it converted the scale in the gas tank to a fine grit material that made it past the pre-filter on the fuel pump.

Yup a brand new one I slapped in about a year now. Car sits but i usually crank it up and take it for little drives. I just don’t get why it’s making that sound when it’s trying to start up but seems like it wants to crank and sounds like it’s not getting enough fuel. Maybe it is clogged or something. Guess I could always pull it and check what comes out if it looks all dirty?

Got a little late lasted night so I didn’t want to crank up the car. I did pull the plugs just to check them out and they didn’t look bad to me just some normal wear, but what do you guys think. I noticed on plug 4 there seemed to be some oil on the threads. I also checked the part where i spliced the fuel line for that glow shift gauge and it seems solid and intact no leaks besides some oil residue from the oil that spills out of that breather. Not sure why I would be having a low fuel pressure. Next I guess I can pull the fuel filter and check that out just to make sure it’s not clogged or dirty.

My Glowshift gauges have been reading consistent for a couple years ( verified with megasquirt ). Looks like low fuel pressure...and the popping you heard could've been lean backfire. You'd be surprised how much air fuel ratio can change the exhaust sound.

Plugs don't look bad to me either. That oil would drive me nuts.

Your AFR seems like it's on target in the driving video. That goes against a fuel issue. I would expect to see the AFR at about 16- 17 for it to be truly running lean. When on the throttle it would climb and get worse as you put load on the engine.
