4.6 2v procharger

Hey everyone, I own an f150 07 with the 4.6 2v so I came here because the mustang bois know 2v inside and out unlike f150 ppl. Anyway I wanna put a supercharger on it, procharger btw and I have 2 questions 1 how reliable would it be at 220000 miles,I know they are reliable aff but want to make sure, anyway my compression is all 120-125 and I don’t burn or leak any oil or have any problems at all, and 2 how much boost would you recommend, not trying to get world records but still be powerful, fast and able to tow and go offroad like how I built my truck. Any info would help and I appreciate anyone who helps!

So many variables that come with reliability. The P1SC, intercooled with 6-8psi should be a nice pick me up. 220000mi I would be weary going any further myself. Im unsure if the internals of that motor are any different than what came in the later new edge mustang but lets assume they are the same. The rods are already a very weak link and with 220000mi they may be very tired. Hope this helps.

Alright, well let’s say the rods are alright, you think that 5-7 lb of boost would be alright? Just wanna make sure before I pull the trigger and I don’t want my bottom end collapsing and me driving and then me hearing a stew of rods being thrown around in my oil pan

I agree with Nightfire that you should have a backup plan in your case especially if this is a primary use vehicle. Nothing is guaranteed. Honestly, If I were in your shoes I would consider building a motor first before throwing boost at it. Would cost a little more than just the blower but you will have a better start for when you do decide to throw some boost at it in the future. Just my opinion of course.

No I think he has the right idea, Do you think I should put just bolt ons onto the motor and then when I get another one and build that one port the bolt ons and put on a supercharger?
 
You can supercharge your current motor if you want. Just have a backup motor ready to go if things go sideways. Hell, if your current motor lasts while boosted then you can upgrade your spare motor little by little. At least you'll be having some good fun with the current setup

I might do that. Put it on get a good tune and run low low boost and build a good motor up and when my OG motor has given its all. Swap the procharger over and push even more. I appreciate all of your guys help! And whatever I plan on doing I’ll let y’all know!

Alright, I’ve decided on what ima do. Ima get a low milage 4.6 and supercharge it 400 at the crank. What should I do to ensure I don’t get a soup of oil and rods. Should I get forged rods? Cam it too? Sent it to a machine shop to get cleaned out first? I know the head is ok to 500 ish but more worried about the bottom end.

I would do forged internals, at least rods and pistons. But if you are going to build this engine, for me, I’d do it right. Send it to the machine shop and have them balance the rotating assembly and check the bore, deck etc.
