My dad sold his 86 convertible, didn't have the money to take it off his hands last fall.
So I picked up an 88 GT convertible, all original except lenses to make me feel better for my loss. I drove almost 3 hours to look/buy this car. Ad said some rust...some. Car looked just like the ad said, little surface bubble rust. I get out my flashlight and lay down in the driveway, the owners face turns white. This can't be good. Drivers side frame rail rusted in half under brake manifold, passenger side door pillar welds are disconnected from the car. I'm going to have to pass on this one. Then my mouth says ok I'll take it. wtf have I done. I scored a donor car at Menards, so I'm tied up for the winter now as a welder.

Saw my cousin for the first time in a while, started talking 5.0s as always. He had a Teal Cobra at one time. I immediately said with Black leather?! No just grey cloth. So my demented mind starts going...I'm building a Teal Cobra with a black interior and leather seats. Sweet. I have managed to procure all black interior parts except the two big rear quarter panels. Wouldn't you know Menards has them. I have all the pieces now, just need a GT to get started. I'm sorry the last thread turned into Dr Phil episode. Just started process to paint LX, 88 in background.

I thought he was trying to liquidate his stock? Last time I was there was in the late 90's trying to get a set of Pony wheels.

So the GT vert is the donor? Or the red hatchback?

I have not seen Mustang parts (besides batteries) at Menards. They are rare in the parking lot, although this Menards has almost everything else. I obviously am at the wrong place.
What is the info for the right one? Seriously, who and where? The local yard has a hundred Caravans and maybe five stripped Mustangs of any generation.

I was there maybe 8 years ago buying his last 2 pairs of the last 3 sets he had of the netted halos. He seemed to have plenty of parts and did not seem like he was slowing down anytime soon.

Damn!! I was about 30 minutes from there at a friends house a few weeks ago. Had no idea it was there. Next trip up, I will definitely have to go take a look!

It's technically his backyard I believe, so not sure you can just stop by and wander in. I think you need to call and set up an appt and have specific needs. Basically, "I need XYZ", and you show up and go directly to XYZ. No wandering.

But that's going back on my experience 20 years ago

Neither, red one is ready to paint, had no rust when I got it. The convertible is pretty bad, donor car is for that.

He is still getting rid of everything, taking nothing new in. He has semi trailers here and there. Everything I've ever asked for hes had somewhere.

Technically it's Menard's Auto Sales, in Chester NH. Owner's name is Rick Menard. Basically it's a big ass Mustang-only junkyard. I've been there once, and if I remember right, it was Fox bodies as far as the eye can see and tractor trailer full of parts.

Looking at new sat pics, looks like the trailers are still there, but far less fox bodies than I remember

You can see the white front end barely in lower right corner. That's my donor car. There are more cars along the tree line you can't see. Still some good metal for rust repair. Those trailers are most likely packed.
