Well, Dave, you've given me an idea.

I've been on a 'walkabout' over the last week and am gearing up to move to a new place in a new place.

It looks like I might be raising my own beef in the new year. I won't be a cattle rancher or anything like that (well sorta like that) but I'm thinking about raising just a few beef cows.

I still have lots of things to do including building my cabin way out in the ding-toollies.

Why? Lots of reasons but...



My closest neighbor lives somewhere over that ridge. He's a cattle farmer and a hell of a nice guy.

Sooooooooo………I was intending to pick up a couple regular ribeyes earlier today………..yep………….but they had more sparkly stuff in the meat case. So, this:

The Chuck roast they had there are the nicest looking ones I’ve seen in awhile. I’ll braise that one with some veggies tomorrow. The short ribs were because I was losing my mind and wanted them…..

I didn’t mean to get the thick cowboy steaks again, but there they were, waiting for me……it’s a conspiracy…….

The prices are just so dang excellent for the quality of the meat.

Hit my favorite store on the way home and bought something besides dirty bastard . I went wild, like I was running through the swamps of the florida pan handle naked with an empty beer bottle to guide me and bought this.

It‘s punkiny…….and 9.0abv

The steak is in the oven like last time set at 170* until the interior temp is 120. Then out to the grill for some of that searing action.

I need to get one of those bluetooth thermometers so I can cook a good steak. I'm long overdue for one.

In spite of the high price, I have again bought some (2lbs) real A5 wagyu hamburger meat….

I should have it by next weekend. I’ll compare it to my new butchers hamburger.

Allow me to introduce you to Shirley……….

Sooooooooo, Shirley the Rib-eye…………..Dave has started naming his meat……………surely this is a sign Dave will have a discovery+ channel mini-series soon.

Why Shirley and not Raquel? Because of a GD bodyman, that’s why.

So this bodyman, we’ll call him Barney. Last Friday Barney and I are visiting because he was in by seven in the morning. Apparently he and his wife were arguing pretty fiercely and he decided it would be better to be at work with me than to be with his wife……….I think I’m flattered?

After describing the argument to me, my heart was utterly filled with happiness. Yay brethren, happy as that homey doesn’t have to deal with that anymore.

I told him that he had inspired me to go buy a cowboy steak and cook it in the middle of the night. Why the middle of the night, BECAUSE I CAN!!! BWAHAAHAAHAAHAAHAA,

So Barney wants me to name the steak Shirley and send him a text at 2:30 tomorrow morning saying shirley is so hot and ready for him if he wants a piece of her with the wife defintely seeing the text.…………I’m not sure how this will help with his marital issues…….but his wife is a teacher, so of course I’ll do it.

Ok, I’ll be asleep in the middle of the night, but I’ll try to make him think I cooked it then. I’ve got Shirley out on the counter warming up to room temper right now.

Bitch is 3” thick, woooo!

I really like the wine in the picture too. Apothic Red. I don’t know all the wine talk, but it smells really great. Almost like a bread yeast scent. The after taste is freaking wonderful to me too. The actual flavor in the mouth? Idk, good, wine type flavor I guess, it’s not real sweet and definitely not real dry. Not real strong flavor.

I dabble with an occasional bourbon. One day I'll get my master's degree and my plan is to spend a weekend at either the Don Cesar in Tampa or the Breakers on Palm Beach and congratulate myself with a top shelf bourbon and cigar on the beach.

Keeps me motivated.
