I have a 92 GT and will be getting the car painted in a couple weeks. What should I remove off the car before taking it to the body shop? It’s a black car that will be painted black again so it doesn’t have to be perfect.
Well a buddy of mine that owns a body shop is going to paint it for me so I want to make it as easy as possible for him. I’d also just like to make sure the paint job is done the right way so I wanna take stuff off myself so I know how it was done.Is this a thing where they are just going to paint what you bring them, or are you trying to save some money on the disassembly?
Damn…. that was 5 years ago already? And before all that, youll definitely want to take care of anybody work that needs to be done. A black car will show every imperfection in the panels. Dents, door dings, etc
Still doesn’t seem that long! Always liked that bright white you did!@Rdub6, sorry, almost 4 years ago. Finished it up in May 2019.
Aero is spot on, did the exact same, plus get after any failing seam sealer. Did mask all of the door jamb decals (if you decide to do jambs).Well a buddy of mine that owns a body shop is going to paint it for me so I want to make it as easy as possible for him. I’d just like to remove anything that will make the paint job come out better if the car is painted with it off.
Man, I love the way your car came out. Having mine done now and they took it all the way down. I ended up going with Frozen White which comes on the newer Ford GT40 cars. Here’s mine when I painted it. Going on 5 years now. That should give you an idea. Pull the door handles off as well.
You might want to consider your rusted frame rails before you get into something like this.
How did you remove that fuel door? Here’s mine when I painted it. Going on 5 years now. That should give you an idea. Pull the door handles off as well.
