the Ranchero disaster & Brand X update

What year is the Ranchero?

There are outfits out there that make replacements for a lot of that OEM stuff that turns to powder.
It's a 79 ranchero gt so it's got all the gauges, of course mine are lay'n on the floorboard in a pile.
The alternator swap on Brand X was pretty much drama free until stupidity took hold. A goofy thread for the bracket and the other bracket needed a shave to fit the adjusting bolt, no biggie, did a preliminary wire up and worked GREAT!! Bright headlights, you can actually see the brake lights!
Charging 7.5 volts and only dropped half a volt with everything on, at an idle, outstanding! Plotted the wire route, the lead wire was yellow, really, THAT was not gonna work, wrapped it just like the factory did only better tape, fired it up and all's good. Yup, shut it down and massive discharge.....WTF?
Restart, everything is good, shut it down, discharge, I'm looking atound, going through the wiring, back over the directions, both very short paragraphs. I can't find a solution, ok, I'll start pulling fuses, there is like 4,
Grab a couple tools, and the multimeter turn to walk towards the truck and the FUC'N HEADLIGHTS ARE ON!!!!!!!

Jeesh General, give em a break... They learned this operating their Learing Center....

I have some poisons for you to look through. I know the last one if for aftermarket gauges but I thought I'd include it anyhow.

I'm still looking around, I need some of the gauges and the printed ribbon on the back that connect it all.
it runs but it ain't fixed.

Let me give ya'll an update, ranchero still runs great but ain't fixed...Brand X is a driver now and I've spent a fair amount of time on the Junk Pyle, no it ain't started up yet, got the rear glass out, cleaned and sanded the window channel, no rust cept where the paint chipped in the past around the edge at the trim but surface rust had to be taken care of, so that done and painted. We are ready for glass, that took a week and a half but I ain't complin'n only charged me $20, DEAL!!
Hiccup (not the only one) was the lower right bracket came off the glass, gotta go see my restoration buddy and maybe mooch something that will hold with little worry, anyway window in, clips installed, trim installed and it looks MEH, it will surfice, here's a pic or three.....

The other hiccup was when I discovered that one of 4 screws to secure the louvers to the hinges was missing  yeah fun, I could just run up to lowe'sdepo and grabbed a screw and been done but noooooo, not me, only three places, not counting the distance between inside the garage and the first stop out side for prep and then another 20' or so to the back of the car, where it could have made it's escape, if it fell off in the garage where I had the window settin and last notice all the screws were in place then It's a gone dog, I've swept the floorseveral times since then, looked anyway, checked the area where the glass guy prepped the glass with a magnet and found two car keys, neither are mine and a nut and bolt, checked the hatch area hoping it fell inside but nope, looked around the rear area of the car on the floor and didn't see it untill I got down on the floor to gaze under the Pyle and THERE IT IS!! Right where you would stand to work on the hatch/glass. Shuffle one foot wrong and that screw would have never been found, it's only about maybe 3/8" long so I believe I earned the "Lucky Dog Award".
Not really.......I just didn't want to go to lowesdepo for a 3c screw..
Lets see, I've spent how long play'n with these louvers and the Pyle still ain't running?
But boy do they look neat
Now if I can just get the irrigation pump repaired and back to work but that's been going on 3 months now, oh, and the electric stupidity that home owners insurance want done (to the tune of about 5K) just to insure the house and property that is already "code compliant", now I know why I don't have any friends in the insurance industry
Wait do I have any 'friends'?
Gotta go hunt down some parts for a 'friend'. Hey at least he called, when did one of ya'll call me last?

yes they do! Nice job!
thanks but it's lipstick on a pig or more accurate 'louvers on a horses azz'
General. what do you have to do to your electrical house power?
They WANT the whole house rewired, we are going to get some ground thing fixed, a new panel for the main breaker and a couple 'double taps' moved.
Keep in mind the electrical is code compliant now!!!

Shoved 'The Junk Pile' out to the carport to deal with the fuel system and install the louvers, well one outta two ain't bad I guess.
Got the ranchero back running and driving again but it's not fixed :bang:it's good enough for trips to lowes and around town, still not charging. I'm done with it, this thing dies on the road I'll fone a friend.
Electric all done, and my communication device takes a left turn and leaves the chat as you youngsters say or did say, a visit to the fone store was a lesson in tech stupidity that I found hilarious and frustrating at the same time, you might as well be entertained and educated, it's my thread and my goal is to educate and entertain, even if it's the wrong way to do or react.
Let's be clear, I ain't pay'n a thousand dollars or more for a communication device, give me a 200 dolla piece of plastic and life goes on. If only that easy, but the entertainment experience was priceless. First it was determined that my device had a 'hardware ' issue, so next is a replacement, this is hoping we can extract the contents of my old one and walk out the door, nope..... they don't have fones boxed up on the shelf in the back room, you have to do it from 'the app', the 'app' you download from your 'fone' ..... Think about that for a sec, this guy told me straight faced, "you download the 'app' on your fone" ...ahh, this fone? The one that 'left the chat'? Looks at the fone, looks at me, I'm holding my composure as best I can, I hand him the fone and say "go ahead". It was hilarious.
He decided we need to call and get it done with the support people and 'fones in the mail'. Now we gotta hope we can get the broke fone to transfer my crap to the not broke fone. Lots of 'stuff' will need to be manipulated from scratch.
I'd like to thank Bill Gates for convincing people this stuff will make our lives better and all the criminals that make that better life hell..
And yes Noobz, all my chinese midget **** is gone :hide:
But that's not the end of the fun though, I don't have an authenticator to finish a log in if prompted so I contact the boss and HE FIRES ME!!!
Now I'm just a common member posting nonsense until I'm bant from here.
So now I ask, what size rear tires to get that won't make my taillights look too big??
Will this muffler make my car sound like a 'ricer'?
Other stupid sht to follow..
