Basically, a buddy just got a 2001 supercharged Saleen. The dyno showed 331rwhp. Is this about right?

I have to admit, I know nothing about Saleens - always thought they were a bad body kit with a Cobra motor. Now I find out that it's only a GT with a blower & some body mods.

What's the deal with the Saleen? The above seems like a whole lot of money for looks and not-enough-go.

So, what's the deal? What should a 2001 Saleen put down to the wheels on a dyno? And... what are the best power/handling mods to put into this particular car?

Thanks for your input.

SC'd S281s are rated at 365hp at the flywheel. That number seems about right to me.

Saleen is a handling car.Yes over priced indeed. You could put all the stuff for about half the price but you would still have a Fake.

Not a bad dyno # at all.

Tell your friend "Congrats" on their purchase, and to check out the Saleen Club of America
(link in sig)

How close to stock does your friend want to leave their car? They could start with a set of MM C/C plates and perhaps some GW LCAs and a set of sub frame connectors, perhaps a Kenny Brown "Exteme Matrix" might be an idea. There are lots of options, and lots of companies.

Do they have the wheel/tire option? If not, they could upgrade to a 10" rear wheel and some sticky tires.

I would also suggest getting a better shifter than the (entry level) Hurst one that Saleen uses.

It should have more torque than horse power. They handle and look very well.
