I pulled the two "bayonett" type slider clips and unpluged the bulb but the assembly would not pull free from the body. Am I missing another fastener which must be removed or should I pull harder?

Gently wiggle and pull straight forward. Only the two bayonet clips hold it. And in this temp be careful about cracking off plug harness clips.

Gently wiggle it. Directly tugging it is going to result in you posting, "OK guys, I was trying to take my headlight fixture out, I yanked hard, and then all this wiring came out, too."

I craked one too and it bugs me every time I see it so yeah it does matter to some people. No need to criticize my advice unless it is technically flawed my friend.
