So my friend who has a 96 Mystic Cobra is talking mad smack about my 02 gt...:nonono: He wants to go at it at the track of course streeet racing is stupid!

So my mods are in the sig. and his has full Bassani exhaust(Mid lengths catless xpipe catback) C&L intake, FRPP driveshaft. and then the exact same suspension setup.

How do you guys think i would do against him??

P.S he is installing 3.73's this week i beileve, and then im pretty sure i would lose unless i can drive WHICH I CAN!! and he cant haha

So what yall think?

I have to disagree... How many miles are on his motor. Those things go down hill pretty quick past 100k. I have a buddy who has one and his bolt on car w/gears was just a little slower that mine stock with only gears. His only had 130k and freshly tuned up at the time.

So if its an older motor and you can drive fairly well, go for it.

Another friends was also in great shape with a fresh motor in a 97 cobra and it was only running 13.70's at 102ish.

I you run good and are consistant than you should come out on top. But be careful, those 4v's love the big end.

Agreed - I've done this myself (held a 96 Cobra off). I don't know what he had or didn't have, but I only had 3.73 gears and a catback. To be quite honest, it was neck and neck (or fender and fender), but his front fender was next to my back fender...I had him by a half a car length to about 100mph.

well i didnt get it on video but we found a nice closed highway at like 4am coming home from a dyno day around here... and went from a roll.. and i walked him pretty bad. Hes in the process now of installing a new diff, axles, gears so he should have me now, but he cant drive for **** ... lol

When I just had a catback and pullies, I had no problems with 96-98 Cobra's. I wasn't pulling them by much but I was still walking away from them. It really depends on the driver though, Cobra's are just like the 2v's in which they start dropping off pretty hard towards redline, so if that's where he is shifting then that only helps your cause. Oh even after gears, it'll still be a driver's race, but you would benefit from a tune assuming you don't have one already.

do pulllies make a diff thats worth doing? And no i dont have a tune the only mods i have are flowmasters, midpipe, kn filter i believe. And i dont know a shop in the u.p. that would do it even
