03 crown vic e. fan

I have access to a 2003 crown victoria electric cooling fan, it just needs a module which I can get at my cost for about 80 bucks. I was wondering if anyone has ever had experience with these fans and ow they do? Of course I would get the dcc controller also. Any ideas, please post em up. Thanks

if you get the DC contoler, you shouldn't need the factory fan module. the DC controller will takes its place.

If thats the case then I might snag the fan. It was on an 03 crown vic New York city taxi (my grandfathers). So I'm sure it will pull some nice air.

I just picked the fan up, its quite large but I think I may be able to swing something. Possible move the rad foward a bit. So the DCC controller takes over the module thats on the fan originally?

as long as you have a positive and negitive wire coming off of the fan, and the fan works by hooking up 12v to it, it should work fine.

Ok, so it was alot bigger than planned but I cut the outer plastics off and now it will fit. I can probly rig something up where I can use the stock shroud and just mount the fan inside it but I'd rather just mount the fan right to the rad. Do I necessarily need a shroud or can I get away without one? The fan will be mounted right to the radiator. Thanks for any help.

You want the shroud to help pull the air across more of the rad.

Without the shroud, the fan will not work as well.

That is what I was thinking, I'll have to see if I can mock some type of shroud up for it. The shroud that was on this fan was to big for the rad and clearance was an issue.

Sounds good. That should move some nice air, and that was a nice catch by Jerry. Much better to contact Mr Baskin and get one of his controllers [for not much more than a stock module would cost].

I'm hoping it will move some good air, its quite a large fan. I cut the shroud off of the fan but left the shroud area that goes around the diameter of the fan to protect it. I am going to make a new shroud that will be flush with the rad since I have to mount the fan about 3/4 of an inch away from the rad because of the dept of the fan motor. I figure if I spend 100 bucks on the module and supplies, its aint a bad deal at all. Can someone point me in the right direction on which module to get? Thanks for all the help guys

the FK-35 should do you good. if you live in a hot climate the 60 amp might be more suited for you. when you order, it WILL take at least two weeks, maybe more to get to your door. give him time as i think he makes them on a one on one basis. it is worth the wait.

Jerry is right on. I would also recommend just contacting Mr Baskin directly to ask about which controller is best for your application (no knock at all to Jerry, but who better to ask than the guy who makes the controllers).

After reading this thread a 02 Crown Vic came in to work with a bad fan motor and the whole unit was replaced so I snagged the old fan assembly. It measures 27.5x19" not counting the tabs or the bulges at the top and bottom. It has a really large fan on it, should pull some air. I think it would be tough to get on a stock size raditor but I bet on a 31x19" aftermarket it would be perfect. I have a Black Magic, but want a backup. New fan motor and a DC controller or just a switch and I have a new fan.
