05 Air Box silencer?

Has anyone taken off the Air box lid and checked out that honey comb silencer looking thing in the intake pipe? Looks very restrictive to me, it alluminum ans about 4 to 6 inches long. What is it for? Im thinking of removing it, it is after the MAS or MAF. How do I insert a photo?

it's been covered before, it's a hydrocarbon dust filter, it's Ford's way of saying, hey look we are good for the environment to. It basically traps pollutants from exiting the vehicle through the intake when the engine is turned off if I understand what I read correctly.

whats the whole point of removing it? it doesnt restrict airflow AT ALL. take off the hose from the tb and blow thru it if u dont believe me. the restriction is in that craptastic air filter lol

Get a K/N air filter!
