Its impossible to know the answer to that. There's too many variables to consider, but I'd guess you'll be in the 15's... maybe break into 14's.

Considering the gears and heads, I'd say somewhere in the 14's.

Swap the AOD w/ a manual, get slicks, and 3.90's to 4.10's... mid 13's.

Any idea how much horsepower your car makes, that would help...

everybody dogs the aod.

It's not a bad tranny built right. I mean how much are you going to spend on a good 5 speed? Then you can't do anything else but switch gears while driving.

It's the torque converter - typcially 10% more HP loss, up to 20% HP loss under high RPM, compared with manual transmission. If one gets skilled with shifing manual transmission, it will usually do better than auto trans.

Less consistent though.

When bracket racing it's all about being able to run the same or close times time after time. No stick shift can do that since it's up to the driver.

You get a smaller torque convertor to make it up also a convertor multiplys the torque whereas a stick shift is direct. Get yourself a good $$$ convertor and your on your way.

I am a firm believer that a 5 speed cannot touch an auto tranny for racing. Once the tranny has been built correctly and matched up perfectly to the car.

Where as a 5 speed can be adjusted to any motor by the way of the clutch.

Well, what fun is that? I admit that I am not familiar with bracket racing rules, I have always thought it's one to one and the fastest one wins?

I don't see anything in the description of your engine that would make me feel good about advising you to add nitrous or a supercharger... certainly not a 150 shot!

Before you go messing with power adders, you better make certain your bottom end can handle it. Forged pistons, hardened rods, forged crank, etc. are where the smart people start building an engine, when they intend to use nitrous or s/c.

Gee,

Last time I checked the manual tranny was the tranny for choice for auto-x.
Don't forget, the 1320 ISN'T the only race in life

No, the 1/4 mile is not the only race in the world... but if you'll look at the first message it WAS the subject of his question. Auto's are much more consistent for bracket racing. If you like manual tranny's that's cool too.

don't go over 100 shot of nawzzz or you'll blow the welds on your intake LOL

Yeah but no more than 100 shot for that set up. Do all the preventive matters.

Its true that a well built automatic is going to be more consistent at a drag strip, however I just didn't really feel that bracket racing was the only intended use of the vechicle.

In that case... you're good to go... Have a blast! You might want to take in in steps though... 50 - 100 - 150, just so you can find weaknesses early on.

If you're running 10:1 compression or more, be very careful with a supercharger or turbocharger, that's really too high for reliable performance with those. But might be really interesting for a little while!
