1.7 rr pains

So i have 1.7 ration rr's and poly locks, i make sure one lifter comes up and then on the other rocker on the same cylinder tighten the poly lock to zero lash and then 3/4 turn past that. Do that on all 8 cylinders but somehow one or 2 always keep coming loose, im getting sick of pulling the v/c's n checking and tightening these damn thing, and i think im gonna switch back to the stock 1.6's. I will loose slight power but i dont think and adjustable valve train for a street car is right anymore. Just my thoughts wat about you guys?
 
I used to have arp locking ones on mine. You can use a bit of green or blue thread locker on them too. I thought it was a quarter turn after hand tight, but maybe its different for your set.

It's better only if it works.

I'm using cobra crane rollers on my E7's, Had to sell my trick flow 1.7's a while back (went with the Twisted Wedge's:nonono:)

Good luck. Theres always a way to fix something, just depends how far you want to go before it becomes a hassle.
 
The main reason for the swap back to the stocker rockers is the fact that i dont have guide plates installed. Will not having guide plates make running high rpms a bit dangerous for the engine?
 
Unsure on the guideplates. I'm assuming these are stock heads then. I ran guideplates on my Trick Flows.

Unless the rockers have the gate on the valve side of the rocker, I wouldn't recommend it. Then again, I've never done it. Hopefully someone else will chime in. Unless there is something actually holding the rocker in place to keep it from spinning I wouldn't drive it myself at all. Even my Pedestal Cranes have the half circle cut into their pedestals to prevent spinning of the rocker.

I just gave the poly locks about an 1/8th of a turn if even that to see if they would lock better so i drove it about 20 miles n its feeling alot better but i only did it on the drivers side head n no more rocker tick. So i think i will leave them for right now n c wat kinda results i get, and as for the guide plates, i meant dont i need those for the safety of my pushrods??
 
yes sir these are stock heads with heavier valve springs and valve job, and great, if i pull these heads off again for machine work for the plates i might as well sell them for 300 bucks and buy new ones b/c im not putting anymore money in heads unless its for a set of afr 165's

you want to talk about valve train noise. Afr 165's are about the loudest darn head i've ever heard. sounds rediculous but have seen it on 2 cars now. rockers perfectly adjusted and just ticking away. one car we even switched to trickflow heads, and now have no noise!
