So its come time to rebuild my little 2v. Its pretty much a weekend driver these days so why not refresh it and put it on a 125hp shot of n2o.

Can someone post a link to some good rebuild/refresh threads or post what you've done to your mod motor to keep it going after 100k.

I have a heli coil in the pax side head and i think a broken ring on that same side. So Ill need to either buy a head from the boneyard or some expensive TF heads. Ive always wanted cams so now will be the time for those as well.

Id like to keep this under $3k...lol

Thanks for reading :)

is it broken? mod motors will easily go 200k+ miles and sometimes over 300k without needing a complete rebuild

I had 200,000 on mine and only replaced it because I got a killer deal on a complete, brand new, never been used 2004 Mustang 2v engine...

no need to rebuild it....unless its losing compression or just really neglected it. Like the above post says, they will easily go 200k . I just put boost to mine with 92k on it! I would do a leakdown/compression test on it before u do anything if u havent already. What makes you think the ring is broke? a heli-coil or timesert would NOT warrant buying a new head....if anything, i would timesert ALL the spark plugh holes if you have the heads off ever. If your car is a a 03 or below it has the 3 thread heads and timeserts would be a permanant fix!

Mine has just over 195k now and still runs strong. The best time in my signature came just a month ago, so obviously the compression is still good. Minimal mods for the times too.

Just keep up on the maintenance. Change plugs, replace the air filter, keep the oil fresh, ect. At around 180k, I replaced the chain guides, but it was really just an excuse to install PI cams.

I STARTED spraying mine with over 140k on the odometer. At 154k now and run a 125 shot through it.

However... a broken ring? What makes you think that? If that's the case, yes... you'll need to fix that before you spray.
