Why do you need a k-member?

If the upper spring perch is bent, just swap to MM coil-overs and retain the stock a arms and leave the K-member.

That seems like a viable option at the least cost if the frame shop can't repair the upper spring perch. Dang you guys are smart!

@Olivethefet , I meant used K Members out of old Mustangs in salvage yards. Who knows what they have been through.

I clearly bent mine as well. Well, one of the previous 12 owners did.

I should be getting the car back relatively soon. If the height issue is not fixed I'll swap OEM k members. That's the cheapest route and it retains all the work I've already done although the front coil over suspension is a good price as well.

It's hard for me to justify dropping $2,000 on a MM k member.

check your local criagslist... I've seen them in my area pretty cheap.... they almost give them away to get rid of them.... (the people that swapped to after market)

Cool. Thanks. I should know very soon if it's fixed or not. If not I may just drive it for a year and then drop the $2k on a MM k member. A year wait will help lessen the sting after all the other work and money I've put in it.

If you are going to go through all that work...don’t put a stocker back in.

That's my thinking. Why replace a bad k member with an OEM one when I can upgrade. The answer is the $2k price, but waiting a year will lessen the angst.

Take advantage of MM weekend deals and LMR 10% off specials.

I got my k member and a arms on a 10% off weekend sale

Has anyone heard of a spring perch (the upper portion where the spring rests up against the "crown") being pushed upward? I can only imagine that a pothole could maybe cause that damage, but wouldn't the a arm show some evidence of that? We're talking about a major upward impact/force to cause this.

I can’t imagibe a pothole doing that unless the spring coil binds. At that point the strut is blowing through the hood too. In fact, when you hit a pothole, the shock tower takes most of the force.

Only thing I can think of doing that is impact.

It’s the same scenario with my bent k member. One side is tweaked inwards. But my bumper and both febders have original VIN stamps and no sign of body work. It’s a mystery and I’ll likely never solver it as the only original part of my suspension left is the k member and that’s coming out soon too.

Well, my front quarter panels are different so that could be an indication of prior damage?
