Well that is my goal anyway. Is it possible? My car weighs about 3800 with me in it. I got the suspension already, now i just need more umph! So far I have 70mm throttle body, Plenum elbow, CAI, 24#injectors, lightning MAF, MSD coilsk, Hedman longtubes W/ welded stock H pipe, and 50 series weld in flowmasters.
ON the to buy list is 4:10's, MSD stacker ignition, PI intake, Stage I cams from VT or Comp., underdrive crank pully and off-road H or X pipe, and a Tuner of some kind.
My car is a 5 speed and I got a good clutch and I'm already loaded on suspension. I'd really like to AVOID DOING PI HEADS, as I dont want to dig in that far. So, with some good driving a good track conditions is this a realistic goal? Yall guys are the experts so let me know what you think:hail2:

Thanks, CLINT

3800lbs? NOT saying your lying, but damn thats heavy. You sure:shrug:

Ya dude sad but true I my self am pushing 270 and I got at least 100 lbs of stereo equipment. But thats just a generous estimate. How much do they weigh stock? I really want my car do be faster, I got all the punks around here with their turbo rice burners and my drag stang is out of commision otherwise I'd blow their doors off with my 2 front wheels in the air:D

I really dont want to do the PI heads Its just too much trouble to do. Is It still possible to get to my goal of 13's with what I listed above with out the heads? Im not trying to have a serious race car, I already have one and maintence is a PITA on it. I just want my vert to perform better and rip off a 13 at the track.

You don't need to do the heads don't worry. With everything you listed you should easily be a 13 second car. A friend of mine was in the low/mid 14's with his 96 coupe (yeah couple hundred less #'s but whatever) he has NPI intake, NPI heads, NPI cams, 75mmTB, plenum, stock headers, O/R xpipe, 40 series mufflers, and some 4.30's. I lost to him when we first raced and have yet to race him since I did my PI cam/manifold swap but I have a feeling it'll be a LOT closer now, so if that's the case you should easily be knocking on the door to 13's with all you have listed.
PI heads give you more power just because of the compression ratio bump, sure they may flow a little better but nothing major like some people make it out to be.

Ya know I've been really eye'n that kit for a while now. I think that is the one i'm going to get. I know that some people do the PI intake with out the livernios kit but, I'm a big time clutz and im sure I will screw something up or do somthing wrong.:nonono: I just graduated Auto Trade School but I got a long way to go when it comes to these modular motors. Hopefully I'll be able to get a job at a ford dealership and get some much needed experiance! Sorry for all my rambling.

Anyway what cams can I get without having to change valve springs?

Don't get the livernois kit, the adapter plates screw up the injector spray due to the raise. Just get a PI manifold and either PI or VT/Comp cams, make sure if you get a PI manifold that doesnt have the 2nd coolant sensor hole tapped already that you get it tapped, and then do the swap. Swap it out and use NPI gaskets if you want to RTV the air ports and a PI gasket if you want to RTV the coolant ports. You can get the required hoses and stuff from Steve at Tousley Ford in Minnesota, all the links and stuff are available if you click the link in my sig.

Be careful what cams you go with if you do the VT/Comp route, as most of their cams are .550 lift and thats way too much for a NPI head/motor I believe. There are a couple Comp cams that are made for the NPI heads and you can also do a PI cam swap without having to change springs.

The Livernois kit makes adjustments to the manifold and plates for the fuel injectors, so they do sit where they are supposed to... Or so I have been told. The kit itself is a waste of money though. PI Intake gaskets and a little RTV and you are good to go.

Personally if you don't have the 4.10's yet, step up to 4.30's or 4.56's. You can run the PI Comp Cams in the NPI heads. I would recommend the Comp 262AH Cam( PI version ) and degree them in.

With what I suggest and the mods you have, and a good tune. If you can't run well into 13's with your car, then the driver mod needs to change.

Yes, a 13's in the 1/4 mile is very possible with the right parts.
Convertible cars are pigs though and you should do some weight
reduction for your car.The Livernois Motorsports PI intake adapter
kit will work just fine on your mustang with no problems.

You can do it with this
