Hey all I have a 65 mustang and I am looking for some wider 15 inch steel wheels that I can paint and drive around on for a bit. I am kinda looking for something in the 7 or 8 inch wide variety. Is there any cars that would possibly have the same 5 lug pattern and be this wide, or will I just have to go with wheel vintiques?

Your best bet is to go with wheel vintiques or specialty wheel. Do you want Mag 500's or styled steel wheels? I know the 500s are available in 15x7 and 15x8.

Most of the other wheels floating around that are 15 and 5 on 4.5 will be narrow. You may run accross some old aftermarket american racing or cragar wheels that would suit your needs though.

If it were me I would just buy the wheels you want now instead of wasting time and money on temporary wheels and tires that will get replaced later.

well they will be kinda temporary and then used as a secondary set for drag use. The narrow wheel would work for a front I guess and then I can try to find a matching 8 inch rear. Does anyone know off hand the lug pattern for these cars?

you need to look for a set of dodge cop car wheels. they are a 15x7steel wheel and have the 5x4.5 bolt pattern and the correct backspacing as well. i'm also pretty sure you can use just about any mustang/ford dog dish cap on them as well for a cool look. these wheels have 6 little cutouts in them, sort of like a slot mag almost just with the 6 slots instead of 5.

this is what they look like

Would the 15' steels from a Crown Vic/Grand Marquis work here??

mine are painted silver so they look like a factory style rally wheel, though right now they are waiting for me to find a ranchero to put them on. they do actually look very similar to a 70 style rally wheel like what was used on some mustangs, racnheros and torinos. those only had 5 slots and these have 6 but at first glance they look similar
