This is pretty awesome, i don't know how i missed it but i was flipping through an old '02 issue of MM+FF and noticed this pic. I've seen some 10 holes narrowed down to skinnies but i've never seen a skinny tire for a 16 so i've never even considered it for Ponys. The coolest part is the article says the owner found a set of MOTORCYCLE tires that fit.....that's just plain awesome...

right click/save as, because i'm sure you won't see this pic very often.

I've gotta say that's one of the sickest wheel combos ever

I remember that pic. Definitely cool and original.

Some 16x10's out back would be even cooler

Oh no kidding they should've used the extra wheel material to widen the backs!

Yep...that's the one. I've read about the car several times but never noticed the wheels.

hm...if i had the ambition i would fumble through my stacks of unorganized magazines and find that issue...

either way thats an awesome setup...i love subtle things like that which are easily overlooked at first glance, yet still totally help "make" the look of the car. and they are functional, too.

I remember that when it first came out. They say the tires aren't made for the front though. I wonder if there are any 16" tires in that size now?

I dunno but i would think a couple motorcycle tires would be fine....i mean you're using 2 of them to split the weight between them so they can't be any worse than regular skinny tires. They look a hell of a lot cooler than regular car tires too.

Like i was saying before i've never even heard of a 16 inch skinny tire so i never considered the idea of narrowing a Pony, but i didn't know bike tires would work either.

If you ran those on a lowered car, nobody would ever notice until you turned really sharp...thats sooo sleeper.

I know about the motorcycle tires, but last I remember the article said they don;t make 16" bike tires anymore. This was YEARS ago so I might be remembering wrong, but thats what I thought.

Oh, there's millions of 16" motorcycle tires. The majority of Harleys have 16" wheels so there's many companies making tires for them.
