17x10.5 on a Fox??

I'm wondering if I can run a 17x10.5 with a 285/40 rear tire without beating in my inner quarters, loosing tailpipes, and rolling my quarter lip on my 91 fox, lowered on H&R SS springs. My quad shocks are already gone. Will the tire look really stretched on a 10.5 inch wheel? A 285/35 on an 18x10 doesn't look stretched at all, and .5 isnt that much more.

Anyone have any pics of a 17x10.5 ?

i'm running 17x9 cobra r's, with 275/40/17's in the back, stock suspension, and they rub the fenders pretty good under hard bumps and high speed corners.... and mild bumps with passengers.
and my front tires, 245/45/17, are pretty much flush with the rim, and the 275's only stick out a little past, so i don't see how a 285 would look stretched at all on a 10.5" rim........ if anything it seems too small.

Just don't want the rear tires to look like rubber bands.

No point in using a 10.5 and using a 285 tire, a 285 will likely fit on a 9 rim.
My 275's fit on an 8.5. And when i need tires next, i'll probably downsize to a 265, since i feel mine are slightly oversized.

Don't get caught up in trying to jam superwide tires and rims on the car, it does little more than give you headaches.
Me personally i wouldn't try and exceed a 9 inch wide.

Looks at Novi's car. Black notch 17X10.5 DD FR500's with a 275-40 M/T. Looks perfect!!!! Not stretched at all.

Fox length axles are a must. They sit right to the ege of the quarter, so rolling the lips with H&R springs is a must. I would think it's a must anyways.

its a tough line to walk, and solid info is hard to find. you can maybe keep your tail pipes. but inner fenders and fender lips are gonna be a must. unless you want like 4" of fender gap. some cars look great with the 10.5s, but most ive seen dont look right or natural. 285 is alittle small too.

i dont want to pic whore... but i will anyway. can always run an 18x10.
