1956 F100 Gets New Rear.

A few months ago I bought a 90 GT and basically saved it from the salvage yard. I just finished putting 5 lug spindles and 5 lug 373 rear with bullit rims on it only to come across something that I have always wanted. A 1956 ford F100. I couldn't pass it up. No cancer on it. Has a bed full of chrome parts even the speedometer. Dash is uncut.

The 90 GT as it sits now. Wish I could keep it but it has to go to make room for the truck.

That's awesome man. An early 50's F100 is on my list as a restoration project. Keep us updated with progress. I love those trucks.

I plan on the Crown Vic front suspension, an 8.8 rear. Now for the power plant I was thinking a 289 or 302 with a c4. But, I have that 4.8 and 4l60E already sitting in the garage that is bought and paid for. Now I figure 350's are pretty common in these so I might just toss that in there.

In all honesty I would love to stuff a coyote motor in there but reality kicks in and unless I can find a wrecked f150 with a 5.0 motor for cheap, it aint happening. I have a while until I get to that point anyways so the decision is still in the open. Mainly I want to get that front suspension done fairly quickly then work on the frame and rear end. Either way it will be a very nice project.

Overall I am looking for a nice truck I can cruise in reliably. It won't be a show truck by any means but something for me to work on. One of those never ending projects.

I have always wanted one but when I see them they are rusted out and $$$$$ or fully restored/hot rod and $$$$$

Thank you. I think this trumps my 90GT build so I don't feel all that bad in selling it.

Not too long ago I was about to pull the trigger on a 2wd short bed 1967 Chevy C10, these are hard to find since most are long bed. My dad had a clean one when I was a teenager. My Brother wrecked it when he was 15. I found out we were adding twins to the family and I couldn't justify getting a 3 seater (I have 3 kids). Can't go cruising without my kids, it's a family thing IMO. When I was a kid we'd go 4 wide in the 67 but that was before seat belt laws (I'm 38).

Good luck with your build, I'm jealous.

This was in the hotel parking lot yesterday. Didn't get a chance to meet the guy. It's swapped of course but even if you don't like that part an "unrestored" truck on big brakes and modern wheels is just every kind of awesome to me

Love it. I wish mine had patina like that. I would clear it and leave it. I am pretty sure it has a respray at sometime. The firewall and door jambs match the bed color.

I am super friggin jealous, and would definitely have made the same move! I jumped on my little 351W, as it was the closest I could get to an "old" hot rod truck to play with. A 50's-60's F100 is what I would have preferred.

That would be tough to sell. But, any project anyone has time into is tough to sell. Even my 90 GT is going to be hard to let go but I am at the point now I just want to part it out so I can start to get rid of it.

I am holding the back the urge to go start buying parts for this thing. But as soon as this the GT it will be on.

I was looking for a crown vic front suspension for my truck and bought this. Instead of a $650 front suspension I got a whole car for $700. Going to use the entire drive train for my 56. Front and rear disc with a 127k mile 4.6 and auto trans.

Starting the tear down. Draining fluids. Has a funky oiling system that I havent seen before. Bypass lines near the filter go to the radiator. I dont know if this is just on the p-71 or regular vics have them too
