1965 V-8 Fan

Does anybody know the size and spacer needed for a 1965 -289 fan as I bought a new radiator and shroud and the fan I have is to large Its a 18.25 five bladed fan. hope you can help thanks much

The stock fans were too small. The diameter was 17" but only four blades. Spacer was long enough to put the fan about an inch from the radiator. If you need spacers, let me know, I've got a butt-load of these, from 2" to 4"

I jut finished my 302

in a 65, I used a 2 inch spacer, and my fan sits about 1 to 1 1/2 inches from radiator. In my opinion perfect because its half way into the 3 inch shroud.

Yea, with a shroud, the fan only needs to poke just inside the opening. With no shroud, it needs to be as close to the radiator as is practical.

My son's 64 1/2 with a 260 (should be the same) which I'm 99.9% for sure is original has a spacer which is 2 3/8" long.

Be carefull about getting that fan too close to the radiator. When you quickly accelerate, the fans blades will flex, and could make contact with the radiator. I dont know what the proper spacing is. Mine sits about 1 and a half inches from the radiator. This is with a flex fan.
