nice project.i did this in 2008 on a 68 coupe, now redoing entire car.what headers and mounts are you using?i wouldnt use the stock type mounts as thy move the engine forward and up about an inch.the crites gen 2 mounts work the best if you can find them.and thats the problem, hedman use to make nice headers for this and stopped a long time ago.make sure you leave enough room to remove valve covers.also, the mount for the lower control arm needs to be trimed on top to clear the headers.i run the stock control arms and and moroso drag springs, close to shock tower.

Chat GPT to the rescue:

"It looks like there's a motorcycle with a fairing in the house, but I'm probably just seeing things, lol.

Oh yeah, you really do have a single overhead cam engine. It's truly a genuine Boss 429. Most people call the standard in-block cam engine a Boss 429 if it has a 4-barrel carburetor, but you have the real thing. Don't ever sell it unless you give me a chance to buy it. I would probably just leave it on the run platform and start it once in a while. Man, it's been a long time since I've seen one of these, but you've made my day. I'm a lover of iron. Don't ever put that back in a car again; you're liable to hurt or abuse it. I still can't believe I've seen one again in my lifetime. They give a new meaning to rare, if you know what I mean. Okay, I'm going to stop reminiscing now. You see, I had one once upon a time until the judge ruled against me in a case, and she took it, and I didn't get to keep it. I still cry every time I think about it. Okay, it was a real pleasure. You be safe, Mustang friend."

Nobody is going to jump in and say that a Boss 429 is a pushrod motor?
WDF chatGPT
The cammers were 427 FE motors with SOHC heads
Look at the head on a Boss 9 and you will see a head similar to a Hemi Dodge, Has No Overhead Cam

Thank You, Stainless Headers made them I believe. Not sure where my engine guy finally tracked down Both Motor and Frame Mounts but it took awhile.

Afternoon ALL, ITs July 17th, LOTS of Delays regarding Header Installation and now some Front End fitment issues but slowly making progress. My engine builder has been nothing but GREAT and I realize things take time with this type of project. Baby Steps but ITs ALL GOOD!!! Enjoy the Summer Boys and I’ll post a pic as soon as I have something NEW to post!

what motor mounts did you use?the crites gen mounts work the best and give enough room for a puller fans on radiator with maziere electric pump.
this is the best picture i can find of the first build on 68 mustng.had to trim the fan support to clear the maziere.

RJS1969 - I am considering doing the same undertaking. I have owned my 351W 4V mach for years, kicked around all sorts of ideas and built a couple of motors; CLEVOR / roots blower 375 but never installed in car. After buying a torino w/ a boss 9 motor, I really have the itch to put a 460 - Kasse boss 9 motor in the car. If you can PM me, that would be great since I have a couple of questions. I tried sending you a PM but with me being a newbie, the site wont let me. Thanks

i have this same kit i would sell for $1800.it does not have the spindle struts like the picture, those ar a $1600 upgrade, mine has sn95 spindles that bolt on to the strut.also it was originally for a 64 fairlane but will fit the mustangs as well.also comes with new steering rack.and bump steer kit,and adjustable lower control arms, and adjustable caster camber plates.
also i started a conversation with you.its like a pm.

Afternoon, not great with computer stuff so not sure how to PM you regarding your build questions. From what my builder tells me ITS a Big and Complicated but doable project. Takes Time and the way I understand it a lot of skill set in many different facets of car building.

its not a big complicated deal so dont let people fool you into a $50,000 swap.i did my first one on my 68 coupe, just notched the shock towers back and used the crites motor mounts and hedman headers.people have been swaping 429/460s into mustangs for 40 plus years so its not experamental lol.
if you can,or have a good fabricator or shop that you trust 100 percent it doesnt take that long to notch the shock towers.i have tons of pics of mine in procces .i did mie in about 30 hours.and i am slow!
