I just got home. Straight down to the garage, and now,...I'm thinking,...could the orange peel that looked so prevalent yesterday, have shrunk overnight as the paint dried?
I just cant get a decent picture w/ this stupid ass phone. The purple blotches don't actually exist. The purpose of the shots are to give you an idea of the texture. It is significantly smaller than it was yesterday,....To me, It's manageable.
But the reality is that there are many panels that'll have a completely different batch sprayed on them, If I somehow manage to colorsand, and buff this btch out.
I'm thinkin' that that isn't gonna be ideal......having a different gallon sprayed on the other pieces...color mismatch out the ass.

PNR? What do you have to lose Mike. Maybe it will all work out. If you can rub the car out then hoorah!In reality, what do I have to lose but some time and effort? If I work that quarter w/ 1000/1500/2000/2500-3000 before I hit it w/ a buffer what'll I be out?.......an hour?
If I can make that quarter look good, the rest of the car will fall into place like dominos.

But here is my latest update,....This guy is the PPG/Fuzor rep from the other forum I spoke of earlier.
Sorry to hear about the paint issues. That particular paint is a thin viscosity product which is why it requires so little reducer. Some people don't reduce it at all, just add the hardener. It is lead free so coverage is compromised when comparing it to an older leaded formula. Since it is a bad hiding color the choice of the sealer color is critical. That color calls for a light gray undercoat for best coverage. You definitely have to keep the sealer and # of coats consistent on all the panels. Were you planning on spraying clear over the orange when you're done? If not, it is going to be very easy for the sealer to show on the edges when sanding and buffing the color

Automotive paint has been made without lead for a bit of time now, during the switch from leaded paint, I never really noticed any coverage difference.
I'll get hold of some single stage fuzor here and shoot it, I'll give you my impressions of what I think would help. I'm pretty good friends with a PPG rep here (he actually used to paint for a living). I'll talk to him about your problem too.
He's right about color sanding on edges with single stage, I would tend to avoid them all together, even contact with the buffer could be a bad thing.
You have sealed, or will seal the panels with the same color sealer, I assume.
Like when we have talked before, I mentioned that was important.

Is your gun an hvlp? Hvlp guns don't require a lot of pressure. 30 is about average...25-30. Of course it all depends on how your gun shoots with the product you're using.Thank you sir,...I was planning to avoid the body lines/end of panels that the buffer will just tear through. But at this point I'm thinking that there must be 5000 mils of paint on the car. When I was painting it, I just applied one light, and two full wet coats...
And my gun pressure was probably too low ...(like 30psi at the gun) but since there is never any recommended pressures on anything I spray, I'm always guessing at that.
The sealer went on flawlessly in one coat, and it only took one qt. to cover the same area that it took 3-3.5 qts of that orange paint.
I have another full qt. of that same color sealer for the other remaining pieces.
We'll see I guess,.....I'll attempt a wetsand tonight when i get home, if the wife doesn't drag me out somewhere tonight.

What I'll do is grab a fender out of the scrap bin, sand it down, shoot it with grey sealer and then follow up with your paint according to the 8-1-1 mixing ratio. I'll take pictures of each stage with thoughts concerning that moment.
The jobber doesn't sell that line, but can get some. It may be a day or two. I'm just getting a pint of it with enough activator and reducer to spray it.
