I'm not quite as righteous of a man as Joe is, that's for double dog sure. Yet, I will pray as well.

You'll be ok Mike and the pain will be gone from your knees (eventually).

I'll call in a couple days to see how you are. Maybe if you're really whacked out on drugs I'll get Kate to stick a box on your head and give us an update picture on your latest modifications.:D

The reality that I won't be able to drive for a month in the best case scenario bugs the hell outta me. The concern about the pain, and the fact that me and opioids don't get along well....(had a stoner acquaintance that offered me a 1/2 loritab , and another that offered me an oxycontin years ago (both for pain in my hands then) was a nightmare. Each incident was a complete detach from the here and now for about 4 hours....so,..there's gonna have to be something else to manage the pain.

Gotta be there at 5AM tomorrow.....I'll wake up w/ bionic knees at noon.

Try dilaudid. Most narcotics and I have problems too, but when I had gallbladder issues (and later surgery) last year, IV dilaudid left me pain free with only a warm fuzzy feeling as a side effect, and I'm a guy who hallucinates on codeine.

This is what it looks like 24 hours post surgery. I'm the only one on the wing that has had both done at the same time. I'm still under the influence of the nerve block they did in my knees yesterday, but that is supposed to wear off mid day today....

And I'll get the full blast of pain when that happens.

Right now, I'm moving around on my own, (to the amazement of the staff) The nerve block is allowing that. I asked for, and got percaset to let me sleep last night, and it worked well enough to allow that.

However,.......my sleep schedule is all f' d up. I was wide awake at 2:30 AM thinking that it was closer to about 5.

I let the drugs convince me that it was a better idea to go back to sleep. I'm up for sure as of this writing.
My breath is probably terrible, so that was the primary reason for dragging my ass into the bathroom. No easy task by yourself when you have these two bottles of drainage fluid/blood that has to be attached to the crotchety creeper so that can happen. ( pretty discusting huh?)

I pee like an old man with a prostrate the size of a watermelon, but at least they didn't have to cath me.. ( the real reason I've put this off so long).

I have my first round of therapy today, and from what I understand, this is the bad part of this whole thing..but it hasn't been as bad as I feared so far...maybe I'll become the poster child for a quick recovery.

Glad you've survived. Both at the same time...smh. My wife had one done and she's back up and hiking. Took her a while but she's good to go now. Before surgery her knee would pop and give out. Those painful days are long gone.

She kicks pretty hard too...:runaway:

Well the direct pain block that was injected in my knees has long since worn off.

And now the hell has begun.

Pain meds suck. I cannot say that they are making any difference. I am fully crippled as of this minute. I know that alot of us have went through a similar surgery that requires therapy, and you'll know what I'm talking about here, but damn!.......
I'm supposed to go home tomorrow (I could have went home today, if they had the pain meds right)...but after last night there was no way in hell I was gonna do that when they are making no difference.

I know that it'll get better w/time...how much time is the question.
