It seems like the day goes so fast when I'm off. I'm busting my ass trying to get something accomplished, and when I look up, ........its 3 freakin PM.
And ....I haven't had lunch yet.
I know that I haven't had anything to eat..my hands shake when I'm hungry..so, I stop and eat.
The "Catch 22" here is that I can't eat alot. Kate doesn't miss lunch, and at 6-7 she'll be hungry. So,...I stop. Have a bowl of soup or whatever is in the fridge, and immediately go back downstairs.
Since I've set no goals for today, anything I get done should be a bonus...but it still seems way short.
Nonetheless,...this is what happened today.
The water outlet crashed into the AC lines, forcing me to hack it up, and get out the spool gun ( I so hate that thing). It had to be radically cut and spliced back together. While welding it, it just seemed like the end result was gonna be fcked up as a rats ass, and be full of pinholes.
But,...after grinding it down, and sticking a flashlight in one end, and stepping into a totally dark room.....
No escaping light. ( At least it looked that way).
I cut up the old factory 2jz harness, and removed each of the pigtails that attached to each of the sensors. I have concerns about some of them. ( TPS sensor has 4 wires, knock sensors are shielded, yet only have one wire,......blah-blah-blah....)
I put the exhaust manifold on, a real pain in my ass to tighten up. ( Note to self...if the engine is ever out again,..install the exhaust header before putting the engine in).
I plumbed the remote filter and oil cooler. ( Which required I install a new oil cooler, as the original one leaked) The problem with that is that the size of the thing has changed since I built the shroud back in 2016. The new 16 row coolers are not as tall...MOF, they're about 1/4" shorter. ( In the grand scheme, much better than them being 1/4" too tall).
The exhaust manifold is on there, I just need to buy some better nuts as opposed to the rusty ones in the pic.
The intake on the other hand is just mocked up. Only held on by two nuts at each end. The purpose was to determine how bad the thing was going to interfere with the water hose at the rear of the engine, and the hole through the firewall where the engine wires will pass through.
I'm gonna have to relocate that grommet. The water hose partially covers it, and that is reason enough to block off the existing pass through, and move it to a different position.
So.....I got that in front of me....before I can move forward.
The Ford IAC valve seems weird to me. Is open now...(You can blow through it...i.e. there is a big assed hole in the intake now).
Hopefully, when that valve sees 12v, it closes, and restricts air. I don't know for sure..ive never had one..besides,..How many of you have put your intake manifold up to your mouth and blew through the inlet of your IAC valve?.........

The hoses are off the heater core. Something weird was going on with one of the hoses, it was starting to disintegrate.Trying to get it off the heater core was a major challenge. I had to cut it off, and it has left all kinds of residue all over the copper nipple. Getting that thing clean enough to slide a new hose on there will be a major chore. It is very hard to get to it with the thing installed,...im almost tempted to blow off the heater core install, and just bypass the thing,.........But,..thats today. Tomorrow will be a different story.
There was a display of one that was cut apart in one of the AP stores I was in. I had a NAPA about a mile from my house. Still set up like an old time parts store. Whatever they didn’t have, they’d get it later that day or next day. Closed up shop several months ago. Our dealership was busy too. I stopped by around lunchtime to use the on-car brake lathe on my dad's Hyundai, and all three of the techs working this Saturday had flagged at least eight hours by then. Sales was busy too, you're right, BMW owners/buyers apparently don't care about COVID19.Well,...it seems that people in need of a car, don’t much care about Covid 19. We had a fairly busy day...I sold three cars myself.
The grocery stores looked like the end of civilization had been announced yesterday, and that the current food supplies were all they were gonna get....
