If I can keep this thread from drifting back into the 60’s and 70’s tv shows...

TO THE 80s!

I kid, I kid...

Now, what ya need to do, is plan this out ahead of time. When you go to bed, put a pen and a legal pad on the nightstand so that when Mr. 3AMD shows up, you two can hash it out and write it all down so you've got a checklist. Work the list, and make this car better, you have the technology.

(Okay, I'm done for real with that chit.)

The real Montgomery Scott’s son plays his role in STC. I do not like the replacement Kirk and Spock in STC, but Grant would have been a good Sulu in a Paramount/CBS production.
Maybe Mike can watch while waiting for parts next time.
Vic Mignona is too "soft" as Kirk, but he gets the Shatner mannerisms down nearly perfectly. Todd Haberkorn's only fault as Spock is that he just looks twenty years too young to be filling Nimoy's shoes. Chris Doohan does an amazing job filling his father's role in both STC and STO (he also cameos as a random crewmember and the transporter chief in the first two Kelvin timeline movies), though I feel his delivery is too fast.

The first actor they had play McCoy wasn't good in the role, I could see him doing other roles just fine, but he just was a bad fit. When Chuck Huber showed up in episode three, things instantly get better.

A comment from another member prompted me to look in on the Corral this morning to see what he was talking about in the thread. ( I had to compare my ******* status here to a similar member over there). After poking around for awhile and looking at a few comments from the guy, he appeared to be a different kind of prick..One without a sense of humor.

Imagine how bad I’d be here if every one of the snide comments I make here were intended to just prove my know-it-all status, as opposed to the occasional self deprecation, sometimes witty, a few times funny intermissions I routinely insert into the confines of this forum..

It’d be like.....“ Get a rope“ :runaway: gotta go now..

So that leaves you with a choice since you have to put up with one less dry, less stodgy,....prick. You can set me up on the site to ignore my comments,..or physically ignore me, either way this is where i’ll be until The orange car gets sold.

For whatever reason though, I never really posted there again after the red car,..and after a few more threads, I gathered my things,..turned out the lights and went home.

I did leave this,..And got laughed at for the “out of touch“ asking price of 20k.
In the end, it sold for 14,500.00 back in 2012...so..nothing to laugh at I guess.

Why the hell did you sell that one?

I swear to god....If there is one more reference to some TV or movie FROM ANY DECADE in this thread, I’m gonna turn this thread around and close it......FOR GOOD! :nonono:

So you want to talk about music, eh?

With the converter back, does this mean you'll be driving it Sunday? What ddi they do - raise the stall speed or lower it (I wasn't clear on what they were doing from the earlier post)? I can never remember when you want a high or low stall speed. Like I said, I don't speak 'Autosian'

They changed the stator. Now that I've spent some quality YouTube time studying it, it's the key part responsible for changing the stall characteristics. They loosened it up, meaning they put a stator that will increase the stall speed. How much is ytd, but they told me that the old one was tight, and that's the way it felt, so I'm hoping for 3300-3500..which should put the engine into boost before it starts really rolling.

I had a magazine with that car in it(no idea where it is now.) ... I was even around for that build thread (kinda)
The red car was really a cool build. Wonder what it’s up to know, think it’s still like it was,had any updates or changed ownership?

I was reading @TOOLOW91 ’s build thread, and based on his discovery, decided to look into my fuel filtration system for possible restriction to flow. He uses better stuff than I do, since I have a thing for using Summit branded sht, but between the two of us the filter arrangement is basically the same. A -8 housing containing a 100 micron prefilter element coupled to a similar -8 housing that has a 10 micron filter element. I wanted to determine if those two filters were dirty enough to cause a restriction to fuel flow. Not known for getting too scientific when it comes to testing stuff to determine its serviceability, I decided to use the facial air pressure method to gauge that restriction.

I blew through them.

The 100 micron housing offered zero restriction. it was as easy as blowing through a 1/2” diameter tube.
The 10 micron housing was a different story however...there was noticeable restriction. If blowing through the thing was restricted, fluid movement would probably be even more restricted. I decided to replace that element.

But, as with all things these days,....that item was not in stock, and wouldn’t be until 8/4. Which brings me back to Jeff’s thread.

He had done the same thing, and had the same end result. He replaced the 10 micron with a less restrictive 40 micron. So since he had boldly gone where someone had gone before, I decided to follow. When checking stock at Summit, they have a filter with a 40 micron element in stock..and going by the pictures, it looked to be similar enough to the housing I had in place to be a direct swap.

So I order it.

When the thing gets here yesterday, I get this tiny assed little box...I think, This can’t be right, the filter Im replacing is huge, and this little chicken peen sized box can’t possibly be a -8 anything..

But sure enough..

That’s a wine bottle cork for reference.

It more than passes facial pressure test though, it blows through as easily as the 100 micron unit does. But i’m gonna have to adapt the fuel lines under to car to make up for how much shorter it is than the one I’m replacing it with. How long it’ll be before this thing plugs up is a wait-n-see...but for today, it’s gonna have to do. I’ll make sure not to modify my fuel lines where I won’t be able to put the old housing back in place once they get that new element back in stock.

Im waiting on my boys at HF to open. I’m gonna go buy a couple of those Bauer li-ion cordless drivers, now that the 3/8” drill ive had for a month has passed the test. I gotta remove the flexplate to give me access to the rear of the oil pan where there is.......

A fckin leak.

Im just gonna clean the area..and goop it. This leak looks to be a gasket ( since i used silicone as a gasket). Evidently I didn’t get a part of the mating surface properly gooped when i put the pan on, and now oil has found a way out..( why won’t this sht just stay in the pan?)
Having a 3/8 impact driver will make quick work of removing and reinstalling the flexplate, and i’ve always wanted cordless impact stuff anyway,...so that will be how I start this day.

Now you know why I use composite gaskets PLUS silicone for anything that I don't want to do more than once...
