Can I join ?
I have this 87 Gt minus motor and transmission that belonged to my older brother. He passed about a year ago . This car he had stored over 18years with a lot of work needed on it . He used to race Mustangs in the late 70s and early 80s . My neighbor also raced cars and knew my brother and had gotten a transmission from my brother for a 96 Mark VIII . The neighbor quit racing so I now have that Mark VIII with the intech 4.6 V4 . I want to marry up that motor and transmission to the Mustang for my brothers kids . I am retired and have all the time I need to do this . also, 30 year aviation mechanic and some car wrenching there too. any help on parts needed to do this right off I see the Kmemver issue this car came with a 5.0 .

Welcome to :SN:!!

Unfortunately I can't answer your question with 100% certainty so I'll defer it to someone else. But I will say that most everyone will ask for pics and mention that you should start a build thread for documentation as well as to share what you've done and ask for advice. And don't forget pics! Like I said, everyone loves to see them! :D

You should do a Google search like "Lincoln Mark VIII engine and transmission swap into fox mustang". I am good with electrical and turning wrenches and would pass on this swap just due to the money and time suck. If the Mark VIII runs sell it and use the funds to put a pushrod motor in the car with a good automatic (4R70W) or manual (TKX) and move on down the road. Just me but either way it sounds like a really fun project.
