My son and I are salvaging a 5.0 HO engine/tranny from a low mile Lincoln LSC for use in a Fox body that was originally carb'd.

Since we are dealing with Foxes and a 5.0 HO, I thought of you guys first for my questions.

*The engine is totally stock. What parts do you suggest I keep or dispose of to make the engine a neater and more user friendly package? EGR? Air pump? Etc...

*What parts and wiring can I delete right away that aren't absolutely needed, or won't freak out the stock ECM?

I know my way around a 302 very well, but your thoughts on the 5.0 HO EFI are greatly appreiciated. This will be my first carb to EFI swap.

Also, what concerns with the fuel system do I have? I know I need an EFI specific pump... I am hoping the LSC pump will fit the other car's tank, or even the LSC tank into the other car. Thoughts?

Anything I am forgetting?
Thanks!
Dave

Oh, and I should say that we are working on a high school kid's budget! ;)

Fwiw: My son's Fox is an 81 Fairmont that had a 200 I6.
We have been building it up with salvaged hi-po parts from pre-94 5.0 Mustangs.

Anyone know if Baer Brakes from a 2003 Stang will bolt into a Fairmont?
I can get the huge front brakes, spindles, aftermarket struts, and 4 Eibach coil springs for 200 bux.
I hesitate to buy them for fitment concerns, but it would be a good deal, and combined with the 8.8" 5 lug rear in the LSC, would upgrade from the old 4 lugs. The boy will miss his 10-holes though...

Thoughts here?
Again, 200 bux is alot of money to the kid, but it might be worth it, though it would blow his budget for everything else.

Is it an LSC or just a Mark VII? If it's an LSC then it has a 5.0 H.O. it will drop right in with no issues, motor trans, PCM. As for the Fairmont it's a 4 door Mustang FOX chassis, everything is interchangeable!!

Thank you for the info.
Yes, it's an LSC.
Too bad every bit of window rubber is rotted in the car, it is super nice. Just leaks like a sieve, and that has taken a big toll on the chassis electrical system.

Do you have any ideas on what components are safe to delete without freaking out the PCM?

I want to simplify this thing to the max.

Thanks again.
Any other details?

Just for giggles... here is what we are working with.
