1988 lincoln mark vii - anything good in it?

A friend of m ine is getting ready to junk his Lincoln Mark VII. So I went to his house to help him push it out in the street so the local Pick and Pull could come get it......But hold the presses!!!! It has a 5.0 engine in it!!! I never knew that. So I offered to buy it from him for 200 bucks (whole car). Iruns great but the car has some extreme electrical madness going on and he has moved on to another car.

My question is: Would any of this stuff in there be good for my 84 5.0? I am sure stuff like the engine block maybe good, not sure about the tranny and driveshaft. Please advise?

Can't be totally for certain... but I doubt the 5.0 in that car is an H.O. but you should be able to keep it for spare junk odds and ends.

Sorry I should have said this too, in my complete opinion... if the 5.0 isnt an H.O. I wouldnt waste 200 bucks on it because around here at least, I can pick up a 302 for next to nothing they are everywhere in the junkyards. F-150's, Lincolns, Cougars, T-birds, all kinds of cars had em.

aaahhhh....ok. when I get back home I will check, but I think I remember seeing "h.o" on the manifold....

If anyone else has some insight please share. I havent bought it yet but if it is worth while I will. I havent mastered the compatibility factor of the different ford platforms yet.

Its an HO motor, same as the Mustangs... It has a AOD,same as the mustangs, and it has disc brakes front and rear. It also has the 8.8 rear that will bolt up to your mustang...5 lugs as well...If you see the 5 lug kit in 50 resto? It has the Lincoln front rotors,just like the car you are buying.... Well worth $200 IMO

It's a 5.0 HO...225HP.

The AOD is the same, but it's about 1" longer. You could use it but you would need to shorten the Driveshaft.

It has 11" front brakes with 73mm calipers and a 5-lug rear disk 8.8 rear end. If it's an LSC, it also has 3.27's in the rear. If it's not an LSC, 3.08's.

...cant you do a 5 lug conversion with the spindles vii spindels...or am I thinking of something else?

Thunderbird spindles i think you can use.

I think the Mark 7 spindles are different, but don't quote me on that.

87+ 5.0 spindles are cheap and easy to get anyway if the mark 7 ones will not work

A Fox-body Mark VII is essentially the same thing as a Fox-body T-bird or Cougar, just with some extra doohickies like air springs (not air SHOCKS), a fancy tripminder thingymadoo, and those related bells n' whistles.

If the body's in nice shape, and if I were in your shoes, I'd count my blessings, keep the car in one piece, and fix the electrical issues. A nice, un-mutilated Mark VII can be hard to find sometimes, and they are a VERY nice car to own/drive once you get it up to speed.

The H.O. motor (speed density) was standard on the LSC and optional on the Bill Blass and standard Mark VII packages. Brakes are better and, as said, has four-wheel disc. You can swap those onto your 'Stang, if so inclined. Axles I believe are the same, too (28-spline 8.8" rear), so you basically have a complete 5-lug conversion sitting there for $200, which is a deal, in itself.

If you don't want to mess with the whole deal, feel free to drive it on down my place and I'll give ya' $300 for it in a blink. (Then I can swap the T-5 and 4.10's from my notch into there and really have a ball!)
