Another option is the gauge is having a brain cramp like other fox bodies can do. Either a ground or voltage regulator issue starts sending gauges sky high for a while. My 4 eyes would start with a full tank, then max out the temp, then oil and volts. Bump the dash by my right knee and all would go back to normal. Fairmonts have done this too.

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

I've heard that too. A buddy of mine from work has a 86 GT and said his gauges act crazy all the time. I just went ahead and ordered some Autometer gauges and call it good for now.

I was able to confirm with the previous owner last night that the car does indeed have UDP's on it.
I found a set of stock pulleys on EBAY for $50 that I'm going to jump on. Hopefully this will solve the issue.
When it comes to swapping back out the pulleys, is it pretty straight forward or do I need some special puller to get them on and off?

What was the specific fix? As where is the ground that needs checked or what was the ground fault?

I am sure I have under drive pulleys and do not have any over heating. (Factory ford pulleys came in the BBK box of extra parts) even at 107 degrees this summer.

Yesterday it ran pretty cool until I got hung in some stop and go traffic and then it climbed pretty high up on the factory gauge.
It comes back down once I start driving though and it's never actually overheated. Of course I'm not running the air either. I'm praying that once I put the factory pulleys back on it that this will be resolved. It's serious;y stressing me out
