1998 Cobra A/C Compressor

Can anyone tell me when the compressor on the 1998 Mustang Cobra is supposed to run. I have heard different stories from different dealers. One said that it will only not run when OFF (obviously) or when on vent. It runs at all other times.

The only time your ac compressor will turn on is when its turned to the A/C or Defrost function.

Thanks. I know it seemed like kind of a stupid question, but it proves that my compressor is running all the time and doesn't shut off. Time to hit the shop.

To just be more specific the ac compressor will be on during these function settings:

A/C
Max A/C
Defrost
Mix
