I definitely didn't take any steps backwards from last year.
I ended last year with a 7.2x/ 1/8 and that run ended as an 11.27@120.
The only changes I made were to switch to a good set of plug wires, build the rear end but left the 3.55 for now, and wired the car to launch on boost.
Everything seemed great the sat. night before I loaded the car. On a launch I could see 18 psi with the clutch in, the engine didn't pop or stumble and it would carry the drivers wheel without nitrous on the street.
First run:
I held it on the 2step for what felt like a year and it started popping like crazy. When I launched it sounded like a big truck hitting the Jake brake. It rolled out 15 feet and all of a sudden the front end shot up 12" and I was off. Once I hit 3rd it stumbled again, cleared up briefly and then stumbled.
I'll post the actual entire timeslip info when I get off today.
7.47@93 w/ the 70 shot and launching at 5600
Second run I heated the bottle more, switched to the 100shot raised the 2-step to 6000. This time I only barely hit to 2-step before I launched, boost still came up and it hit like a ton of bricks. However....With both wheels in the air it started spinning about 8 ft out and got squirelly. Anybody who has watched me knows that anything reasonable to save I will stay WOT. Which I did. I got it straight it didn't loose very much time at all. When I hit 3rd the clutch went up in smoke. The car was still pulling like crazy but the rpms were just hanging at 5 grand. Right at the end of the run I felt a big jolt just input shaft started matching with the engine rpms. I got a 50-60 foot 3rd gear pull that I've never felt before. Hard to say how much time I lost from that.
7.37@94 w/ only a 1.62 60'
