sorry to drop in like this but, does anyone have a carb for the 2.3 for sale?
I have a built 2.0 that needs a better more tunable carb. I finally got it to run right, but it eats gas and still lacks the performance I think it should have.

Basically a shaved head is what I done to it, and a straight thru flowing exausht.

also I will need the aircleaner when I get this carb.

Let me know.

Who here has shaved the head on there 2.3's??? I got a couple questions.

thanks,

Hi, I got your PM... I guess I overlooked this thread earlier.
Anyway, nothing special needs to be done. The cam timing will be off slightly, but only 2 degrees if you milled it .100 which is a lot.
As a general rule of thumb for the 2.3, you take out 1cc of combustion space for every .007 you mill off.

Not sure how much numbers wise he shaved (over 1 I think). But it was to the max! It def moves alot better than the 1.6 did. This is the German Pinto 2.0 but the same aplies. Part of it might be goofed because I used the injection cam setup instead of the carbed one. Its just a toy, so I am not to worried about it. I wanted to port and polish the head but there was no point in it because the runners on the intake were so damn small. I need to build a new intake or something.

ideas?
?

I have since the first part of this post, fixed the secondary so it works more like it should (vacume secondary) but the motor just dosnt run like I think it should. what sizes do the 2.3 use for jets? maybe my secondary (because it is only temporary use) is jetted smaller. hmmmm
I think if I got ahold of a 2.3 carb my problems would be less.

Unfortunatly, I don't know anything about tuning a carb.
The circle track folks like to use the box intake with no upper. Racerwalsh makes an addapter to bolt on a 2bbl (I think), but you could probably make the addapter yourself. That box EFI lower intake flowed the best of any factory intakes.

yah, well you should see this thing. they designed it for the 1.6 or something and forgot to make it any bigger when they stuck it on the 2.0.
I wish I could port it but I think even that wouldnt be enough to get it close to the ports. I try to stay away from there custom stuff as they got a custom price on em! !! ! !!

If I would have know this earlier I would have given you my old 2.3 carb that I tossed when I moved. But IMO I would just go with the 2bbl holley from racer walsh or summit and the EFI lower from ebay or the boneyard. good luck with that

do you know the CFM? or better yet can you measure the ports across then I can compare them to what I got.
If it is designed for the 2.3 I am sure it will be enough.
Any pictures?
Redline like the fuel additive? I didnt know they made carbs.

PM me or email with how much you want for it.
