2.3 turbo Question

I have a 88 Mustang LX 2.3 4cyl with no turbo,i was thinking of buying this kit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7911843297&category=337424 my question is what else would i need??? or could i get a older thunderbird and pull all the turbo stuff off it then put it on mine??? im new to this........ i need to make a list of things needed for turbo,i would appreciate the help...

The bottom end of the N/A motor is not strong enough to use a kit (the pistons need to be forged, you need a oil Boss also on the block, you can drill one into the oil pan though), For that price you can buy a 88 Turbo coupe and have everything you need to either drive the TC or to swap it into your car now.

Stinger may even be able to beat that price for a "kit"

and I'm surprised stinger hasn't tried to beat that guy's price for a kit yet. I mean, even if he has to buy the turbo's off ebay himself he should still be able to undercut that guy for what that guy is actually offering in his "kit".

and I agree. You should just go buy a turbocoupe for about $500 and just swap in the engine and buy an LA3 off ebay or from the parts store.

search for Ford 1988 thunderbird. Then 2.3 Turbo and look under ignition/tune-up and engine computer.

manual transmission reconditioned ecu is $97.79 from cardone.

of course the core charge is $100.00 but just take any old ford EEC-IV computer in for a core charge and you're good. They honestly don't care anyway as they just reflash the computer, paint the case, and resell them.

Looks like they have a PE in there for $150 too

You wanna know why I haven't tried to beat that guys price (which I could do)? Because I've only seen 2 of them sell in two months...not worth wasting my time IMO.

People like turbofords because they are cheap to build...kinda hard to say that if you spend 1200 bux on a kit when only half the stuff in the kit will fit/work.
