hey i am getting another t5, rebuilt with the D&D 2.95 gearset. along with a tri-ax and KC clutch kit all for 800$ t5 has maybe 1k miles and clutch has 200 miles.

anyway, will this gearset really make much of a difference in eliminating tirespin in 1st???

share some of your stories, people who has gone from stock to the 2.95 set.

later!

I should pull a lot better and longer in first gear compared to the 3.35 stock ratio with a 3.90 gear.

Might help a bit with wheelspin in 1st,but it won`t totally eliminate it I would imagine. All depends on how hard you launch and how much traction you have.

Just have to try and find the right balance off the line when launching to try and avoid wheelspin then let her rip.

I have a 2.87, and i hate it. Takes like an hour to hit second gear. I wish i had my stock first gear back. Only thing it's good for is not having to shift into second gear when you are in a parking lot.

If those stats in your sig are up to date, and you are having massive traction problems, it's your driving, not the transmission. Especially if you are using drag radials.

First thing you will notice is that from first to second gear your rpms will only drop 33%; the closer ratio certainly helps keep the rpms up, that is one thing I hated about the 3.35 gears is that from 1rst to 2nd RPM would drop 41%.

So if you shift at 6000, with the 3.35 youd drop down to 3540rpm.

With the 2.95 first gear shifting at 6k rpms drop to 4020. That may not have much of an effect at the track but it cant hurt especially if that's where you make power

If anything, you will still have traction problems cause with a 3.90 gear you'll still have an 11.5:1 final first gear ratio.

That's enough gearing to break the tires loose, and the fact that your able to keep the rpms up will probably mean traction problems in second if you really get on it.

I run 4.30's with the 2.95 gearset and traction is bad, too much gas and the tires are in smoke, I also had the trans built with a 0.59:1 5th which is really nice on the highway.
