2 Smog Pumps in 1 Year?

What's the deal with this? I just put a smog pump in last summer, now the 'new' one is going out too. Anyone see this before?

If it is used pumps being installed, that can be it. They dont like to not be turned (i.e. if someone 'belts' around the pump for a long time, the pump might not like being spun again).

I think you are thinking of the check valve in the line from the pump. It keeps backfires from making it back to the pump (which can damage the pump).

The pump does not really care what it pumps to, otherwise.
