i know right... it's either be upside down 4-5k on an 01 cobra vert (way higher resale than my 98) or upside down with owing near $17000 on a car worth maybe 12k privately after it gets fixed. i am gettin a 700 dollar or so tax break by trading it in too. I think I'm running out of ideas but I'll def have to keep this thing till im outta school next year and have a real job. i already have the 4.10s, d/s, installation kit, etc. and im gonna trade the pro 5.0 to a friend with an 03 gt and he'll buy me the TR3650 shifter. then i just need to do my little COBRA letters and get bassani's on there again over time. that's what will drive me nuts the most, how quiet the car is stock.

** Does it seem very strange the 01 cobra has had 5 owners and was bought at an auction from FL. it was orignally in FL, 5 owners then sold at the auction? i only see one new paint spot on the fender wall above the tire and no other mark or sign of new paint anywhere else.

That '01 has had five owners? That's not too comforting IMHO. I doubt it has been cared for - most likely abused/thrashed. If the car had one or two previous owners, it would have been an "ideal" situation (ie - could ask them about the car's history, maintenance, etc). With five previous owners, getting that information is next to impossible - you'll have no idea about what has been repaired/damaged/replaced/etc. Again, I'd stay away from that deal, suck it up and repair your current cobra since it has some nice mods already in it.

they're tellin me that dealer's count as owners of the car on carfax. which sorta makes sense. everyone has kept the car at least a year and a half except the last "owner" had it for 2 months. i'll find about 30 day - 60 day warranty that should come along. Interior, seats, engine bay and under the car look too clean for it to be abused. it came from florida too so it never saw snow... ha maybe a telephone pole fell on it during a hurricane or something.
