2005 wheels on 2001

We put 2005 bullitt 17" wheels on my 2001 v6 mustang (it had stock 16s). Thought things were great until I had to make strong turn or U turn...front wheels rub on sway bar. Any ideas????

You need spacers. I was going to buy the same rims and tires off of ebay becuase they had like 2 miles on them (they were take offs) and they were real cheap. They advised me that they're would be rubbing becuase of the new body style of the 2005, the rims have a different offset from previous year Mustangs and for them to fit on with no rubbing I would need spacers. Most people don't recommend putting spacers on, at least in my experience, but it can be done.

Thank you for reply. I read your previous threads, at least you found out first. I really didn't have that opportunity as we got these at a one day swap meet. I had 4 people telling me they would work and what a great deal they were. We are checking into spacers/adapters. I'm hoping someone out there has some helpful and safe ways to make these work.

Yeah I have a tendency to rush into buying things all the time, and things never really work out when I do. I'm sure they will be fine on your car with the spacers, its just the extra step you have to take. But in the end your car will look great with the Bullit rims. They are extremely nice rims. Let me know how it turns out and how much it costs and I might do the same as you in the end. Good luck!
