Anyone running a 265/40R18 on their 18x9's? I've been looking into getting this size for a few reasons. This size works for the Cobra R so I am hoping that it will work for mine. Because the tread is thinner and the sidewall is taller I would expect them to have a slightly better ride then a 275/35. Finally I like the way it looks to have some meat on the rims rather then a thin rubber band.

So my question is this, is the larger overall diameter going to be a problem as far as handling and rubbing is concerned on a 99-04? I did search and I didn't find much information on that particular size. I appreciate any light you can shed on this for me.

Well, you’re only going to be going up about ¾” in overall diameter, in comparison to the stock wheels/tires. You may experience rubbing in the front, depending on if, or how much your car is lowered…..and your speedometer is going to read a little slow, but otherwise, it shouldn’t be a problem. I’d personally run 275/35/18 all the way around, or if a staggered set up is what you’re looking for, go with a 245/45/18 in the front and 285/35/18’s in the rear.
