thinking about changing my wheel /tire combo:

right now i have 17 x 9s with 275/40s on the rear. i like the look it has. but ive found a set of 17 x 9 and 17 x 10.5 deep dish bullits.

how would a 285/40/17 look on a 10.5 wheel? i dont want the stretched look and im afraid thats what it might be. maybe im wrong?

anyone done this? pics would be great

thanks

Right now i have 275/40/17 tires on my 10.5 inch cobra r's and they look nice but there is almost a 1/4 inch lip of rim sticking out. Next time i will get some 315's for em. Now this is with sumatumo street tires but before when i had nitto drags on them they fit perfectly and they were 275/40/17's also.

275's on my 8.5 inch wheels look perfect IMO, but that size tire on a 10.5 wheel? I would def. think that would be majorly stretched. You have an SN-95 car... My friend's got FR500s on his 02 Mustangs, 10.5s int he rear with 315 Nitto Drags and not one sign or hint of rubbing... plenty of room w/ the quads.

i was afraid of that. 285s just sound to skinny for 10.5s. i was just hoping i was wrong. i would like 315s on the back- but they are little pricey (sumitomo makes a cheap 315 tho). and ive asked 50 ppl about 315s on a 94-98 car. 25 say no problemsm, 25 say i will have to do some modifying.

my 275s now are sumitomos.

so your 275s on a 10.5 doesnt look stretched?
Not for sure what you mean by "look stretched" but i think they look fine . I could take some pics if you want.

Sumatumo makes some 315/35/zr17 tire for 150 each through that link PoopDawg posted, would that be the correct size for my 10.5/17 cobras ?

For any fox guys running 315's... Did yall have to do any mods to the inner wheel well? My fenders are already rolled and there looks to be plenty of room on the outside but the inner side looks pretty tight.

How can i measure what the backspacing is on my rims?

im running 275-40-18 on the rear of my fox.rolled fenders and no quads.i still have about 2 inches of room from the inside of the tire to the inner fender well.oh my 18's are 18x10 and the 275's have a slight stretch to them.
