285's on front?? Will this work?

Hey just checking to get some opinions on putting 285's on the front of my stang. I've got the eibach prokit. Will this work or is it too wide of a tire? Any help is much appreciated!

Don't do it. It'd fit but your steering will suck. I wouldn't go any wider than a 245 on the front. I'm running 285s on the rear.

Ok, well I'm buying a set and I guess I'll take off the 285's and put on 245's for the front. I could always save the 2 that I take off to put on the rear later I guess.

So would a rim with this size: 17" x 9" (+26mm, 6.11" backspace) fit my 03 GT with 285's on the rear and wither 275's or 245's on the front?

you can run 285's out back no problem. I would go with a 255/40/17 in front. they fit better om a 9" rim.

I have 275/40's on 17x9's all around. The fronts will rub slightly when the wheel is fully turned. Not bad though. I wouldn't go too wide on the front, as wider front tires tend to make the car track with every little road imperfection. No way should you put 285's on the front...

The saleen come with 265/35/18 on 9" rim, it fits great. You might be able to go 275 width as well. Anything above seems outreageous!
And remember, you go wider, you may increase grip and look, but you loose speed and performance....

Not sure who did the tire fitment since I'm purchasing them online from an individual. I did have 255's up front on my 96 cobra and although it did tend to walk a bit in rutty paved roads, it didn't steer too bad. How many miles can you get out of Nitto 555's (if driven somewhat responsibly...lol)

What performance are you losing? If you increase grip, you're talking about harder cornering and harder braking. So all you're losing would be acceleration from the extra weight (probably barely noticeable).

My friend uses 285 tires on all four wheels at the track. He has a Mach1 2003, with Eibach springs and Tokio 5-way adjusteble. I can tell you that the car turns awsome He has changed the upper and lower control arms as well, and much, much more!
But anyway, 285 in the front should be possible! And it does not look silly!

Most of the Steeda cars around here have 285/35 18s all the way around . I guess it can't be that bad.
