289???in a fox

ok i have a friend who is wantingt o put this 289 in a fox and he is wanting to use his oil pan pump and pick up since its a almost brand new canton pan wil these work on this 65 289? allso he is wanting to convert it to roller and stay fuel injected will this be a problem i was thinking allmost all this stuff is inter changable but i really wasnt sure about the cam part of it or if he has to buy a small base circle cam? thanks in advance im sure sombody will have some input

The non Fox oil pans are front sump and Foxes require a rear sump. His oil pan will not work.

ok well the oil pan is offhis old 302 that come out of his fox i was asking if that will work on his 289 .

since the 289/302 use the same block it would work, he would have to relocate the dip stick since the 5.0L has it in the side of the block not in the timing cover as the 289.

Because it is a rear sump oil pan and the serpentine belt system.

I think it would be stupid to put a 289 in a fox. Why doesn't he use his original 302? converting that thing to a roller is going to be expensive.

IMO there is zero advantage of a 289 over a 302.

These other guys are giving you the right responses as well.

No real reason it can't be done, except converting over to a roller cam is prohibitively expensive. Unless this 289 is already built, your friend might be further ahead selling his 289 and scooping up a roller motor to start with.
