289 stroked to 302

Cool. I was just doing some research online. I'm actually pretty happy with my 289 but it never hurts to explore options. I wouldn't mind if she was a little more agreesive. I don't race but I do like to go fast!

Iskwezm...I'm gonna head to Rowland Heights so you can work on my ride. I'll take everything you have except for the orange pearl paint.

it means he might have just bored it out or used 302 rods.
Using 302 rods on a 289 crank nets you nothing but lost compression. The 289 rods are .060 longer than 302 rods. And that is if it would be possible, doing this with stock pistons also results in the crank counterweights hitting the piston bottoms. :D

All you do is get a stroker crank, but I got a shortblkock from FPS in Anaheim, all forged.
:D Wow another "all forged" shortblock. :D The stock rods are forged too. As are the later 5.0 pistons. As for a forged crank, that's not really necessary unless you plan on doing nothing but full power racing with it. :D

I know all rods rods are forged, but I didnt get the stock type, and I know a forged crank isnt necessary, but tell me what you would do with 150 shot of NOS and 10 PSI paxton???If you think all forged pieces are the same,i hope you never sell stuff, you will really mislead them :notnice:

Well, yea you'd need them for what you've built, but then again, maybe not, you'll end up splitting your block in half unless you also invested in a better aftermarket block like a Dart. So in effect, you bought a better bottom end, but one that will stand more abuse than the block holding it all together. In my opinion, you really just wasted your money if all that's in a stock block. :nice: So don't be surprised to hear a loud and unpleasant noise first time you spray it and rev it over 6 grand. :D

Which is precisely the reason I don't spray NOS or force air into my late model block with Hypers. Then again, my build is so right and the engine is so strong, it doesn't appear that I need to......

I'll save that for when I get a Dart block........

D. Hearne has never lead me astray, absorb his wisdom grasshopper.....

Yea, ditto with my 331 stroker topped with Canfield heads and a good old fashioned Ford repop 3x2 intake and Holley carbs. :nice:

I ran for YEARS with a 175 shot of nitrous on a "stock" block 289 with stock bottom end and NEVER broke anything.I have seen blocks slpit, but only from improperly built combos'.I see absolutly no point in a $2000 Dart block for a street motor unless you just like to brag that it will handle 1000+ HP,but you only have 400????.Everybody can say what they would do,but my guess is you have neither.I have plenty of friends making 475 N/A up to 700 HP on a blown stroker "stock" block. You call it wasted money,i call it what I wanted. So what your saying is put more into the block, and less into the rotating assembly which takes all the stress

Im sure you have your reasons why,and have mine, also working for Ford for many years including R&D i picked up a few things along the way too.
