Until my compression starting to drop in 1,5, and 6, I was driving my 408w to work on a daily basis.
On commuting trips I was getting about 17-18mpg.
On all highway trips I could hit 20mpg.
I never fully finished the tune with the tweecer, but I think I could have done a little better.
Also, I have a gear swap and trans rebuild planned that should help as well.
I am still using the factory original T5. I think I have a total of over 220k miles on it now.
It is finally showing signs of wear, as it likes to jump out of second when its cold.
Oil use is not really a problem with 351w strokers. Really, only the OLD 347 strokers had that issue. I think all the new kits have relocated the oil control rings now.
Selecting fuel injectors is more of a hp problem than a displacement problem. There are countless calculators out there to help you make your choice.
A forged crank probably is overkill, but I can understand the deisre to make sure the bottom end is stout enough for boost.
I put forged internals in the bottom end of the 408w as well.
I did plan on going with boost at a later date, but now I have decided to bump the compression to 10-11+, and be done with it.
I'll post what I know about the swap/conversion in another post.
