I'm trying to figure out where I'm going with my car. I'm definately thinking of supercharging it and since I figure my stock block won't last too long, I figured I may just get a new shortblock stroked.

How much difference in price would a 331 S/C be than a 347 S/C? What about reliability and streetability? Basically what are the pros and cons. Is a 347 S/C too much for a street car? Would a 347 N/A be better?

I've always wanted to slap on a supercharger, but i feel if i do so right now, my stock internals will eventually go...

I'm sure this question has been asked before to many different degrees. I couldn't find much on the search. I've got a million questions I've held back on.

I've always been a big fan of the 331cu myself. Aside from their ability to rev, they're less prone to wear (however minimal) compared to a 347. The jury is still out on that however, since nobody's really accumulated any kind of real mileage on either block yet, but supercharging the application is only going to increase and accelerate any wear that either will accumulate. The 347 however will make slightly more overall power due to it’s increased displacement, which makes it more desirable for some.

You're going to get a ton of mixed reviews on this one as the preference seems to be about 50/50, but either one's got it's high a low points and both are totally streetable. You'll just have to decide for yourself what characteristics of each engine you like and which is more important to you.

As far as power goes, it pretty much comes down to flow more than cubes, since it's forced induction. You can make a stock 302 push lots of power if it'll flow good, but all the cubes in the world wont help much unless it flows. If both combos flow the same, obviously the more cubes will take the advantage.

As for reliability, i'd stick with the 331 personally, since it's just a bit further from the most you can stroke a 302. I'd give up some power for reliability. I'm personally going with a turbo 306 if the money ever comes my way.

I guess I'm picking a stroker primarily because if I blow my internals, why not go bigger instead of just beefing up a 306? So I think I would at least like to do a 331ci. But do you think I should do the supercharger first and wait for my stock to give out or would it be better getting the 331 soon? I've only got 82k mile on my block now and I know it could go a good deal more, but I also know wear does accelerate with a power adder.

I would s/c the stocker, with only 82k miles and not TOO much boost and a tune you could probably drive it for years 2 or 3 maybe more. If you get the stroker I would go 331..I hear the 347 puts more strain on the cylinder walls.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE list your mods. BEsides the v-1 it must be badass. Im guesing forged internals, 8.5 compression. etc etc. Did you but it from chp?
