hey guys...well the aod is out and the tremec is in. whewww what a job! :D anyway next project on the neverending list is a rebuild for my tired little 302. I figure...if your gonna open up a block and replace parts GO BIG OR GO HOME! i'm gonna go for a 331 stroker kit and have it worked at La'Roccas in Englishtown. Anyone know a nice reliable kit that wont break my wallet and anything else i should consider? i am plannning on spending 800-1200 bucks on the kit. Thanks all!!!
PS. in a previous thread i asked if it is safe to dyno test a brand new engine. after they build it i want it dynod and tuned and was wondering if i should wait to break it in and bring it back, or just do it when its done. thanks again

i did my 331 for 1700....that included all the machine work for the block.....the stroker kit from performance automotive warhouse with forged probe pistons, forged eagle rods and scat crank was 1300$ that included bearings and rings

347? ehhh i thought about it. i like the 331 number. however i might add i heard a lot about 347's runnin longer than a 331, is this true? she is a daily driver so i want the best for her. a 347 is not out of the question. also anyone got numbers on how much something like this might cost to get done, not parts just work. thanks

they are VERY close in power output its pretty much personal preference, plus the wrist pin doesnt intersect the ringlands on a 331

The probe 347 kits using their 5.315" rods and a probe 331 piston do not intersect fyi. Its a 331 piston and they designed a 5.315" rod to make it work for a 3.40 stroke.

347 owner here, wouldn't use anything else. Unless it was a dart block, then it'd be a 360" :)

Not sure about boost being better on a 331, I've seen many blower, and even turbo setups on 347's lasting a long time...

A 331 is better for boost. That doesn't mean you can't run a 347 with boost. Less sidewall pressure with the 331.

I say go 331...power numbers are similar.

Good Luck!

Exactly my knowledge on the topic. A 331 has a better rod ratio which translates into less side thrust forces (think of a long rod buildup).

thanks for the input. I think im going to stick to the 331, maybe boost will be a option down the road, i do have the e-cam. I think i will go with the DSS racing 331 stroker assembly. There are a few options and im not sure which would suit my application. check it out, dssracing.com thanks
