Im staying fuel injected. Trying to make a decision on an intake. Overall money spent is a concern. i had originally want to go trickflow for looks and the fact that factory fuel rails can still be used. but at $700+ it scares my wallet. i looked into a carb style manifold with injector bosses. but it would require aftermarket rails and an elbow and different cai setup. what do you all recommend?
 
Try EBAY ...I bought a trickflow R intake for about $350 (upper and lower) on there a couple of years ago. $700 is a trickflow box R intake that may be a bit much on that 351 unless you were going to use an AFR 205 or 225. If you're staying modest i say get the trickflow r (non box) with the 75mm or 90mm if youre going to be doing some higher revs. i believe trickflow says on a 351 the 75mm makes power from like 1500 to 6500....remember if you go stroker these values will change. Only way i would consider gt40 stuff on a performance 351 is if it was a ported lower so i could run a Kenne Bell. I hope youre not putting ported e7's on that 351....if you are then an aftermarket intake would be a waste.

i dont plan on using ported e7s. they werent even enough for my poor lil 302. i plan on pickin up a pair of used trickflow heads. will a lightening lower and a explorer flow enough then?
 
summit has the boxed r at $799 and the track heat at $699

its hard to find a used efi 351w intake on ebay.

the cam listed in my build is the one im using for sure.

what about the victor jr with injector bosses? and used the large elbow. its rated at and rpm that id never go too 4500-8xxx+

its gonna be shifted around 6500-6700 depending on how my curves turn out on a dyno
 
i have a 75mm Trick flow R upper. But the corner bolt hole has a crack. it never leaked for me...but i rather fix it for someone before selling. It has a 75mm opening on it. If you know someone who can fix a hairline crack let me know. If not ill probably see if trick flow can fix it.

On that 351 I would stay away from Anything with a ford part number on it if you want to make any power. at least a 2.02 intake valve....but i would seriously consider a head with a 2.08 valve. YES a AFR 205 or something with the same flow. If not you will build a truck engine. Lots of Torque but no HP and it will run out of steam too quickly.

Also for the street you want your max power somewhere around 6000 rpm although you will shift much lower most of the time.

If you want contact Ed Curtis and see what he recommends for a 351. I have a 383 and don't plan on revving over 6500rpm and he actually recommended a 205cc or 225cc head. (225 he said would get me 30 more hp) So on a 351 i wouldn't think a 205 would be too much.
 
I'm going to be running a set of cleaned up vic jr's. They are nice heads. 210cc heads with 2.05 intake. I have them downstairs, they are pretty nice right out the box but someone ported them
 
oh id love to get some sick heads like that. but there is no way. cost is a very important factor and at this point my car has been down 19 months and i want to drive it bad.

i didnt know the trick flow upper fit both. i think that alone just made my decision to go the trick flow route.

anyone have a suggestion as to injector size?
 
In the pic i have some crappy swap headers. Accufab makes a good set. You can call them and they can make a good mid length for your application. I got the hood from a friend. It has a good 4" Cowl to it. Whats important with the hood and the efi is that the cowl doesn't slope down too fast towards the nose and that the cowl is wide enough to clear the intake pipe.

BTW for other info i was cleaning my garage FINALLY And realized the A/C Compressor for the 94/95 mustang bolts right up to the 97 351 bracket i took off the motor i had. Im going to try and Reinstall the A/C system i took out and shelved. Not sure what brackets you're using...but i hate the factory 94/95 ones. 94/95 brackets are 2 year specific and they stick out too far on the sides or the motor. But using any other bracket requires massaging the Radiator Support to move the radiator forwards. My radiator is about 1/2 way under the support.
